Mini review Ganzo 710

I am going to try to do several quick and dirty mini reviews of some of the budget knives I own to help others out. Don’t expect much but it is another voice in the crowd and maybe I will help someone decide to buy or not to buy a certain knife based on a few key points.
I have been into knives for 20 + years and have owned everything from cheap K-Mart $4.00 knives to $1000+ customs from makers like Jens Anzo and others. I have probably owned well over 1000 knives in my years so I am not a newbie. I EDC a Benchmade 921s but have been surprised at the high quality of SOME of the Chinese knives. There are good ones and bad ones.
What I have found in general is, knives made by companies like Sanrenmu are as good or superior to many of the “name brand” knives such as CRKT, Buck, Schrade, Kershaw, Sypderco Byrds etc.
The Ganzo 710 is a knock off of the very fine BM Rift. I have owned the Rift and the quality is actually impressive in the Ganzo. Is it as good as the BM? No. I paid $150 for the BM and $15 for the Ganzo. The BM is probably not 10 times the knife of the Ganzo you do get what you pay for. With the Ganzo, you get more than you pay for.
The action on my Ganzo is as smooth as the BM. The lockup is just as solid. The fit and finish seems equal. The materials are cheaper but not junk. The Ganzo could sell for $60 and nobody would think twice, it is that good. It is such a close copy of the BM that there isn’t much to say that can’t be gleaned from a Rift review as far as size and shape. It is heavier but I plan to drill out the liners which will shed some weight.
I give it a highly recommended rating. My highest rating. One of my favs.

Pros:
Smooth action
Solid lock
Good fit and finish
Close clone of BM Rift (if you like the Rift, it is a Pro)
Cons:
Heavy
G-10 scales a little bit sharp in the hand
Questionable durability. Don’t expect it to last like a BM.

just bought a Kershaw Burst, partially serrated tonight off Woot, for $18. It's my first. Is that a good deal, you seem like the guy to ask?

thanks...

p

Not a bad deal from what I have seen online. I checked out those as well and almost bought one of them but I just ordered a bunch of SRM knives.

And where can i buy for 15$?

It is on sale at exduct right now for $14.75 but you need to add on a few bucks for shipping. I just got mine that I ordered and I like it quite a bit.

Don't forget the BLFgiveaway code for 5% off and the raffle promotion. Also, that link is my referral link. If you want a clean one, use this:

http://www.exduct.com/Special-Limited-Products/SP-G710-Ganzo-Pocket-Knife.html

I knew the price on exduct, 15$ was too cheap. On exduct is about 21$ total price.

The raffle promotion is a type of auction? is it free? my english is'nt as good like i want.

You have one, the quality is like enlans? i have enlan el01 and el03, will i like the ganzo g710?

here's the raffle info xatu:

I recently paid $17.60 USD for my G710 with china post shipping and a 5% off code. I don't know why it looks so expensive for you.

I also have an Enlan EL-01 in black. I like them both lots. They are almost identical in size. The obvious differences are the flipper and liner lock versus the axis lock. Another slight difference is that the Ganzo has 2 plastic washers around the pivot while the EL01 has one bronze one plastic (at least on my samples). BLF user Isti has recently put up a nice comparison of the two on his steelreviews site:

http://steelreviews.blogspot.com/2012/02/ganzo-710-enlan-el01-comparison.html

The only difference from his is that my G710 has the word Ganzo and 440C printed (although the steel is reportedly 9Cr13MoV or something) on the blade. My G710 is also a full 4mm thick and is slightly thicker than my EL01 blade.

Hope that helps.

The price from exduct of ganzo g710 is 14.75$ + 6$ shipping = 20.75$- 5% = 19.72$

I pay in euros and not in dollars, about... 17,50€ finally.

I have seen the comparison from isti a few days ago but, he writes a 3.7 mm thick blade on ganzo 710 and enlan el01. Ganzo 2 plastic washers mmmm, it sad, like others chinese fake folders that i have, with 2 plastic washers.

Thank you HBomb.

I found a U.S. seller for chinese knives. The Ganzo G710 is $21.50 and you usually get it in a few days if you're in the US (Beats waiting 3 weeks from China). He also ships international. I'm going to order an Enlan EM-01 which is the little brother of the EL-01. Can't wait to receive it. The site is http://www.lazylizardgear.com . He's also got an ebay store, but if you order from his site directly you get a little better pricing since no ebay fees.

Yes, i know that web but exduct is cheapest. In aliexpress ganzo g710 is near to 20$ dollars too.

I have just buy a ganzo g710 on exduct, final price 17,60 USD ---> 13,91 EUR, not bad.

Hi all, My first post. The great thing about http://www.lazylizardgear.com is that he checks each knife for quality control before shipping. If you've gotten a defective knife from china you know what I mean. He also offers some "Mods" for various knives. The few bucks extra it costs to order from him is money well spent for the guarantee and peace of mind.

Good forum and nice people. I think I'll like it here. The great thing about knife forums is the people, they're so sharp!

Welcome to BLF, jim1862!

Nice looking knife, nice design, but mine wobbles too much due to the crappy axis lock so Ive never even used it once.

I might order one of the newer versions and and ask the vendor to check it out for me before shipping.

Aloha and welcome to BLF jim1862!

Mine arrived two days ago and it hasn't bladeplay at all, even it too tight, the axis lock is very hard, much more than other fake chinese knife that i have (the Schreade that it is on the post on this forum). Have you try to tight the screw pivot? Mine arrives too hard and too tight even. Quality is ok but perhaps price is too expensive compared with enlans. Quality is similar.
