TIR p60 project

I'm trying to make a secondary p60 drop in for my L2T.

I've been very interested in the technology associated with TIR lenses. Seems like a very efficient way to use your lumens if you want to throw them.

I've seen some pre-made 3 LED p60 TIR drop ins for a pretty high price. Anyone know where to get a good lens to start the project with an xm-l T6?

Led Supply rocks!!

Unfortunately, their shipping to Brasil is more expensive (AFAIK) than their products. Is there a good "free shipping" alternative?

I think I'd take a P60 reflector and bore out the center so that the TIR would sit down over the emitter. I got a bunch of narrow beam TIRs from LEDSupply that I use a lot. If the beam is too ugly, I'd paint the reflector flat black. In this application, it would be mainly there as a spacer, anyway.

That's about what I was thinking. Do you know of anyone here that has tried it?

I bought some optics from Cutter Electronics and they should come this week. There are different lenses at different sizes but there is one 26.5 mm Carlco lens that looks like the best fit for a p60. Some seems to be designed for XPE/ XPG and some for XML. I’ll try and see.

If you end up doing something with it send me a PM!

Post your progress as well. i'd like to see the way you take it.

I have been looking for a good fit for the p60 as well. Most seem to come in more generic sizes.

White may gain you some lumen without making specular artifacts. Most of the commercially-available TIR holders I've seen are white.
