Test/Review of EnerPower+ 18650 2200mAh (Blue)

EnerPower+ 18650 2200mAh (Blue)

Official specifications:

  • Lithium-ion battery of the 3rd Enerpower generation
  • Nominal voltage: 3.7V
  • Capacity: 2200mAh
  • Minimum capacity: 2200mAh
  • Standard charging current: 500mAh for 5.5 hours to 4.2 V
  • Maximum charge current 2000mA
  • Protection circuit: 7 A
  • Deep discharge protection: at 3V
  • Button top
  • Nickel base plate for added durability
  • Diameter: 18mm Length: 69mm
  • Weight: 45g
  • CE certification
  • Production in Germany!

This battery has a low internal impedance and has nearly the same capacity at all tested loads.

Because the voltage is lower at higher loads, the energy will be lower, even when the capacity is the same.

Conclusion

This battery is a lower capacity battery, but works well at higher discharge currents.
All in all a very good battery.

Hi HKJ, fantastic and informative reviews as always. Just one thing re: this particular battery, is the nom. V 3.6 (as on the label) or 3.7 (as per your review)?

Also, if it's not too much trouble, any chance of identifying the chemistries of the batteries you test (e.g. LiCo, LiCoO2, LiMn, etc.)?

THX!,
Tim

The official specifications are from a shop selling the battery and looks like a typing mistake.

The datasheet for the cell specifies 3.6 volt.

The cell is a ICR type, i.e. LiCoO2, my datasheet does not contains any more details about chemistry. If I test LiMn it is specified, not with the chemistry, but with the IMR specification.

Thx HKJ. This is very similar in both capacity and performance w/the Black label (other than the higher PCB trip current on this one), so was wondering if there was an advantage to purchasing one over the other.

Any ideas on the cost for each?

According to the manufacturer the batteries without + in the name are lower price and lower performance versions and with the + you get the highest performance.

You can get them in this german shop. I do not know if they plan to sell them in other countries.

Got it. Thx!
