Modified Mini-Mag holster

In making my Micro mags (single cell cut-down minimags) I've been accumulating a small pile of unused factory nylon holsters. Obviously they remain unused as the only hold a mini securely in 2-cell mode. Shorten to single cell micro format there just isn't enough length in the light to stay secure plus the unused length of the holster just looks bad.

I decided to unstitch one of them to just a strip of nylon webbing and see if something could be done. I found that by keeping all of the original folds of the original layout, I could make a fully enclosed holster for the cut down Micro without having to add or remove any material from the original holster. What was previously the belt loop is now the holster and what was the holster is now the loop and flap. Add some velcro for the flap closure and voila! Will fit up to an 1.5" wide belt.

First a pic of the factory holster with one of my micromags in it. Very insecure hold and looks like crap.

Same holster unstitched and restitched with my new design. No added material needed and none removed. And in case you are wondering, there is a Micromag enclosed in this pic.

Here are the two side-by-side. Original on the top and my redesign below it.

Here it is with the flap open and a micro inserted. (that's what she said!)

And finally a pic of them side-by-side, both with lights inserted.

Looks good Johnny.

Clever and nicely done.
