Can anyone tell me how to tell if my BC40 is the neutral version or not. It just arrived and has a SMO not an OP reflector. I know the neutrals have SMO. But just wondered if anyone knew for sure.

I don’t think so. Mine is SMO and cool white. I have neutrals, and this isn’t neutral. But has a nice white beAm

If it has unique serial number, you can ask Jetbeam about it - maybe they keep track of them :P

I got a BC40 for Christmas from my GF, mine has an OP reflector but man do I love that light, it has started an addiction, lol. The BC40 is a pretty good thrower but also had decent flood, just an overall excellent light.
i was totally hooked when a friend of mine dropped his into four feet of murky, cold, Charles river water and mud, while doing surveys of some bridges.
he fished it out, rinsed it off and went on with the survey like nothing happened. the light didnt even flicker.
bought mine the next day and added another during one of the recent deals. (a steal at around 50usd).
bombproof.
They both have the same type of reflector (LOP).....it's actually easier to tell than you think, on the head of the lights does it say BC40 W ?? Also on the box it will have a sticker on the top flap that says BC40 W. I have both versions, hope that helps.

The two i brought are CW with OP's
I think mine is CW with SMO then. Can't wait to get some batteries!

Jetbeam where sending out random reflectors a while back, it wil depend on the age of the stock and where it was brought.
My second one from DD arrived last week. It is still an SMO cool white. Both came with full box contents BTW. Thank Summer for the great customer service and DD for that low prices. (I only paid $35 for my second one)
Hmm, lovely. I wish I had one of the OP ones, but I also have a Shadow TC6 looking like that, with NW XML.
I am waiting for the next DD BC40 sales...
