received my skyray king nw from CNQG in good shape and reasonable time. loaded it up with a quad of charged/protected solarforce 2400's, sealed it up, pressed the button and got......nothing.
no flash, no light no sound, nada.
not sure how to proceed. do i need another battery with a more pronounced positive lead to make contact? is it the cells in general? the UI seemed straightforward am i missing something? has my luck with chinese lights finally run out?
sigh. this is why i usually buy my lights from shiningbeam. little help?
Can't help you with the problem, but just as a warning - make sure you DON'T leave the cells in light - there may be a dead short (unlikely but possible!) somewhere if it doesn't turns on.
Hyde...The tailcap has the capability to be locked out. In order to insure the light has proper contact, please make sure the tail cap is fully tightened. I'm not familiar with the Solarforce 2400 myself, so I don't know if they are the problem. If you have at least two other 18650's around, try them instead. I've had my KING running with only one 18650 and 3 slots empty just to test it. But don't run it on high mode to long in this configuration. Let us know how you make out.
The battery can serves as the -B condctor. Make sure the top edge-rim of the can is clean, bare metal and not anodized. If you have a multi meter check for continuity between all 4 of the -B springs and the bare metal edge-rim of the battery can.
Definitely try different cells with a more pronounced +B terminal. Normally I would recommend magnets on the +B, just to check... but not in this case since the battery can rotates the cells against the driver board and you run the risk of dislodging the magnets.
Thats all I can think of, since this not the kind of light you can just unscrew, take apart and probe around.
And it tightens hard-bet you don't have it tightened all the way. Lube the O-ring so it's easier to twist. I still have to use all my strength to twist it tight. That O-ring is a tight one.
