iTP A1 EOS

Picked up one of these on clearance for keychain and have questions not yet answered by looking at seller sights and reviews. I'd guess some of y'all have run one of these for years.

1. Will this light run a primary CR123 down as far as it can/should go? I've read the light output is not digitally regulated, but not sure about this.

2. Will this light run off a LiFePo? I'm assuming yes because sellers say this light will take reguler 3.7v L-ions (RCR123)

3. If I decide to run lithium rechargeables, what are some of the recommended brands/sellers?

I have an ITP A1 Stainless Steel. Yes you can use it with lithium primaries, LiFePO4 batteries and unprotected Lithium Ions. I use Soshine li-ion batteries in mine. Protected Trustfire’s were a bit long for proper operation. The output is regulated with li-ions, but will be slightly dimmer with a 3 V battery.

Appreciate the feedback. Is there a high enough low current cutoff on the light to protect unprotected batteries? I've read the LiFePo are a safer unprotected battery.

Hmm, I dont think it has a low voltage protection. I remember I played with an AA battery and it worked with it also. So maybe they share the circuitry of the model A2 and the input can be as low as 0.8v for that.

Are you using the 'protected' Soshines? They are considerably smaller than others, aren't they? I need some to use in my Nitecore EX11. WHERE did you find yours, please?

thanks,

patrick

p.s. question please. while I was looking at my A1 EOS, an 'O' ring came off it. Can you tell me where that 'O' ring is supposed to go??? Be specific please. THANKS.

No, my Soshine cells are unprotected. I also use them in my Nitecore EX10 and they are my only li-ion batteries (other than LiFes and primaries) that work without loosing modes. You just need to charge them after a while without waiting for the light to go completely off or as soon as the light gets dimmer than usual.
The only o ring I see is in the slot at the end of the threads. You should just put it on the threads and pull it past the threads and stop at the body. There is a slot there which should be the size of your o ring.

thanks Kokopelli. There is already an O ring where you say. The extra one I found was inside the battery tube down by the spring! Bizarre! Who knows how it got there but since there is one where you say I'm not going to worry about it, thanks. I use an Ultrafire protected in mine with no problems. I didn't think it would work as it is very long.
