I bought this because it looked so easy to use
http://www.ebay.com/itm/140734934068?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
and received it today.
Now it has 3 wires and I'm not sure how to use it to check voltage of a battery (for example CR123).
red wire goes to + pole
black wire to - pole
result is it shows 0.00V which cannot be correct
What's up with the white one?
I read the auction description which says
Red Wire: Power Supply +
Black Wire: Power Supply -, Measure -
White Wire: Measure +
but I still don't get it. I don't want to fry the thing by being stupid so please help!
This thing obviously needs a power supply between 4.5 and 28V to operate.
Connect the power supply to red and black (maybe a 9V Battery) and then use white and black to measure.
Yup Chief beat me to it... you need to power the meter with a 4-28V power source. Only then can you measure the cell across the other positive lead.
RED/BLACK go to 4.5-28V power.
WHITE/BLACK go across the battery

Anzycpethian , when you get it working, can you please check out whether it measures voltage as low as NiMh cells, around 1v-1.5v?!
Thanks!
Yeah, I will.
I'm still thinking if / how to set it up working the easiest way. I bought it because it looked so tiny, now since I have to use it with 2 batteries (1 as power source and 1 as tested battery) it doesn't look too appealing anymore.
