Does anyone have a good remedy for repairing corroded contacts from battery leakage? I've use the usual contact cleaner but, how about cleaning up the metal after the corrosion is removed?
tks

Deoxit gold
^^^^^ What he said.
I like to apply a paste of baking soda and water to neutralize any remaining electrolyte, followed by WD-40 to remove any residual moisture, then a generous application of DeOxit Gold.
That stuff is quite pricey, so I try to use cheaper stuff to do the heavy lifting.
That's a good protocol. The bicarb works well.
If you use a lot of Deoxit, I've recently discovered in many cases you can substitute Sta-bil fuel additive. Potent anti-oxidant, lube and corrosion inhibitor that I suspect might be quite similar in composition to DeoxIT D100L, for a lot cheaper. ;) I do still use the Gold on certain applications though.
Electronic tool suppliers (and eBay) stock a thing called a 'fibreglass pencil'.
Its like a little fibreglass abrasive brush, inside a propelling pencil-like body, and its brilliant for cleaning metal contacts, PCBs etc - maybe it would help?
Caution:
Using a fibreglass brush creates little bits of fibreglass dust, which is an irritant and suspected carcinogen, so work over a paper napkin or something, and throw it out after use - don't blow the dust in the air to clean up!
Good Luck!
