21700 tube light

Lol, like many people on this forum there’s always something rattling around in my noggin. Don’t know which one will make it to fruition.

007 I considered a press fit retaining ring but thought it has limited benefits over the current set up. As it is the driver is a firm fit so ground contact is good. If I make a retaining ring I’ll definitely go for threaded.

The reason I mentioned it, is I have Had a few drivers that didn’t make good contact to ground. The light would flicker, not light up unless bumped or change modes on its own. The driver your using looks to have a way better ground ring than any I have used. It may work fine, but if you use something like a amc7135 105c driver it may give you problems. At least it’s a simple fix. :wink:

I made some aesthetic modifications to the tube of this light…

Nice going. Looks like you put that 4th axis to work.

Thanks Hoop. Yeh, got it going this weekend. It’s been weeks since i even looked at the machine. Luckily i didn’t need to re-learn too much this time :face_with_peeking_eye:

EDIT: would be nice to have the time to hone my skills and get the best results i can from this hobby grade machine. Nearly always i look closely at the final product and think “i want better…”

As an amateur machinist with a lot of tools (but verry little skill) I can usually figure out how something is done even if I could never actually do it…

But you’ve stumped me! I just have to ask;
How the hell is that done??

The answer is… a small home cnc machine…
