4 more 365nm UV-leds tested

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo …

You just added another whitey to my shopping list.

[sigh]

Two, if it turns out that is good glass (& coating? probably uncoated?) for 365nm.

But thank you for the heads up. I’ve now got the GearBest and FastTech listings bookmarked, and the On The Road store on AliExpress saved to study later - it looks like the i3 isn’t in their current line.

awesome work, thanks!

a couple of questions:

from the graph the two nichias seem way less powerful than the LG… does that mean that, for example, the Nichia S2+ is better than the cheaper LG S2 in terms of light quality, but not in terms of output?

2) I may need several uv leds for a project… is there any decent cheap uv led around? are these any good for example?

3535 3w EPILEDS led:

UV LED:365-370nm

DC Forward Voltage:3.2V~4V

Forward Current: 350-1000mA

heat resistance:9/W

Luminous Power:700-1200mW

and in general this shop has plenty of cheap UV leds of various kinds:

Okay, I found my 365nm SK68 doubtfires/fauxfires, disassembled them without difficulty, tested all the (resin? certainly not glass, not what I think of as “plastic”) lenses, and none of them (including from white LED counterparts) diminishes the 365nm illumination significantly, so that’s a go.

I put a 20.5mm 365nm filter in one, since it fit and I had bought extra (perhaps for this purpose) when I got one for my Convoy s2+ UV a few years ago. Happy times.

Also got a watch case tool, so am preparing to move forward.

I am searching for a UV led that fits on a XML pad. So far i only found 3535 leds or some with totaly different size.

Not personal recommendations as I have zero experience but I see these all the time as suggestions on AX (I buy a lot of UV LED’s from there so my suggestions are all UV related)

Links might not work, hold on…
Edit all 3 links seem to go to the same thing (I had found 3 different emitters for you) but it should give you a start on your search

Thanks! Hope someone can say something about the Epileds 5W 365nm LED (https://de.aliexpress.com/item/10-st-cke-5-watt-high-power-LED-UV-violet-5050-365nm-370nm-380nm-385nm-395nm/32843106557.html?spm=a2g0x.search0104.3.1.d34c1ae6sdVHJV&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0%2Csearchweb201602_4_10320_10065_10068_10547_10548_10696_5016211_10084_10083_451_10618_452_10304_10307_10820_10821_10302_10843_5015511_10059_100031_10319_5015611_10103_5016311%2Csearchweb201603_16%2CppcSwitch_5&algo_expid=adb78a31-db14-4817-bbe5-370b8aab17db-0&algo_pvid=adb78a31-db14-4817-bbe5-370b8aab17db&transAbTest=ae803_1&priceBeautifyAB=0).
If i buy the leds (10pcs min order) i will buy bare leds (you never know how hot they solder them on these Aluminium Boards). And i have to reflow them anyway on the F3X tripple board. Because i only need 3-4leds there would be a few left. So if you are interested, let me know.
To bad that these (https://de.aliexpress.com/item/The-New-10pcs-Factory-direct-high-power-LED-UV-violet-6565-365nm-370nm-380nm-385nm-395nm/32841967841.html?spm=a2g0x.10010108.1000013.1.7c712e2bQg8Xrk&gps-id=pcDetailBottomMoreThisSeller&scm=1007.13339.90158.0&scm_id=1007.13339.90158.0&scm-url=1007.13339.90158.0&pvid=474fb862-884c-4f18-a929-31d248700e84) do not fit on the XM pads (please correct me if i am wrong!!!)

^ no, have never bouggt one of those, but for sure the beam will be ugly in a reflector light.

Do you think that the beam in the f3x will be better because the beam pattern of each led will overlapwith the others?
Or do you now any other better working UV led that fits the XM pads?

You will get a big donut hole, three times that will not change a thing.

The only XM-size UV led I know is that Epileds 395-400nm one. But keep looking, I expect a 365nm version at some point.

They can be bought in 365-370nm / 395-400nm/ 400-405nm. But i do not want to have a huge donut hole. And certainly not 3! Mhhh yesterday i checked Digikey and Arrow for a long time. I found a few interesting leds but nothing in 365/385nm for XM size pads. I had hopes that someone would know a led but it seems that uv leds for 5050 pads are not so common.
Maybe i have to think about another modoption for the f3x!

did you consider the Sofirn C8F?

I will build one UV for a german guy with 3 SST-10 when I got time
I found even on a S2+ the beam is really tight as the die is so small, not really a big reflector needed

if you know the LED spacing maybe some other MCPCB fits the reflector

Or you use a Dremel tool to make cavities in the reflector base for 3 16mm boards

The F3X is on the way from china. i could not resist for this discount price (although i know modding is not easy). But i like the look (like the big brother of the D80). djozz modded one but the unusual led spacing makes it hard and fits no other DTP Board (Mod: LuckySun F3X). That was the reason why i was looking into uv leds. They usually not require huge currents.
But thats no problem! In time i will find something that fits the light. If necessary i change to a single reflector (if i can find one). But i am not in a hurry!

after 2 years there might be a fitting board with DTP,
also a possibility may be 10mm Sinkpads and 0.25mm copper foil to connect them and

When the light arrives i will measure the board and see what i can find. But ~20€ for a sweet 2S 26650 light was to good to not buy it

I’ve come across these.
https://www.ledwv.com/uv/uv-365nm-10w-high-power-led-p-1222.html

Minimum order for a sample is 20pcs at $15.24 each, not sure on shipping.

Anyone have experience with these?

donut hole flashlight

So which of the two UV lights from Simon would you recommend? The Nichia, or the LG? Your output graphs seem to show much better output from the LG.

LG

If i want to run 4 Seoul Viosys Z5 leds@~2A each in a flashligt would it be better to run them on a driver with a seperate regulated channel for each led or can i run them in parallel like a few XP-L leds?

simply test them on a power supply and measure each voltage at same current
if there is much difference you may add a 50-100mOhm resistor on the MCPCB in series
