Aliexpress Dispute Advice needed.

When I first started buying a few things on Ali, I used paypal where I could, I paid more but I was buying insurance (paypal) to cover me.
Everything went smooth as silk, got a few items within 2 weeks of ordering. Shipping e-packet like the DPS5015 from RD Tech, they shipped it out the same day as I ordered. I was taking a liking to this china ebay site. Ordered some more stuff and all of a sudden this happened.
.
Yeah, I don’t believe it was the sellers fault but Ali systems fault. When the item was setting in my cart the price was clearly $8.64 and I had no idea what was about to happen. I hit buy now button and payed using my bank card info. In that instant a screen shot was took by Ali system and had a paid new price of $12.34. I thought what happened, went to my orders and looked it up, yelp it charged me $12.34 and the process of all this began. If I had just stuck with paying using paypal, I would have already got my money back. But I felt like there was no need seeing how all my other transactions had went so well and I kept hearing about how good their not happy return or refund policy was. I was wrong in thinking that. At least maybe This info might be useful to others who are considering buying from Ali.

I will update on how this ends up. Right now it’s still back and fourth. :person_facepalming:

I agree with your suspicion that a sale was ending and starting again. That in itself is a pain the ass. Everything is always on sale and the sale is forever ending soon. Pff.

moderator007, you can cancel an order for as long as the item has not yet been shipped. Done it at least a handful of times within up to a few hours from ordering without problems.

:-)

Yeah, though to clarify: “shipped” is different from “marked as shipped”. It happened to me that I requested cancellation and it was rejected with “we just shipped, here’s the tracking number”.

The system definitely plays a role, whether it is buggy, or designed in a way that facilitates seller errors.

I’m not the greatest at math, but during the AX anniversary sale earlier this year, I did notice that the math on a sale price didn’t add up, checked it, and it didn’t. Whether it was due to a system calculation error, or an error in a manually-entered seller price I don’t know, but it wasn’t correct.

I make it a point to capture the item, cart, checkout and order pages for every online transaction for my own record, so at least I have a leg to stand on if a dispute arises.

Not advocating paranoia, just caution.

I guess I should have ask for advice a little earlier on then Barkuti, item has already been delivered. :person_facepalming:

That’s exactly what they told me when I first started this dispute.

I usually take a screen shot of my order receipt after the purchase. This time the price had already changed and Ali does have that screen shot but that’s not helping my case I guess. That wasn’t the price when I agreed to the cart price of $8.64 with the press of the buy now button. :person_facepalming:

Well Ali ruled in the sellers favor. I don’t see how but they did. I don’t even think they read the messages back and fourth. With their system when you file a dispute you only have a few choices as to why your filing. No option for you overcharged me. If they had read my messages and looked at the sellers price they would have clearly seen they overcharged me. So shame on Ali.
So I get overcharged and nothing was done about it, not to happy with Ali.
I feel that the seller was just as much to blame as Ali. All Mang-Tools Store had to do was tell Ali “yeah his right, the item was on sale for $8.64”.
But instead they act dumb and said “We don’t understand what you mean”. :person_facepalming:

Learned a valuable lesson from dealing with Mango-Tools Store and Aliexpress. :frowning:

moderator007, first of all don't get me wrong this is not meant to judge you, just to help a bit.

I believe the main thing for you to learn here is to pay careful attention to everything before hitting a “buy now” button. And of course to have a taste of communicating in english with people which does not speaks it natively.

I do no longer get frustrated with things and situations which probably made me feel that way in the past (I allowed it to happen). I can now look at it from a different perspective.

Cheers :-)

Oh, I have dealt with oversea sellers many times and there usually pretty understanding and easy to work with, after about 10 or so emails or messages. DX got me one time on a high power laser module, it came DOA three times and I got tired of going back and fourth with them and having to wrap it up and run to the post office and send it back, paying for shipping, then waiting a month for a DOA one to arrive again. I told them I wanted my money back and I wasn’t sending the third one back. They refused and I haven’t bought another thing from them since (about 6 years ago). I buy a lot of stuff from some of these guys, so usually they work with me when there’s a problem. First purchase with Mango Tools and my last now. I have already bought close to 20 items off Ali since joining about 2 months or so ago. I was kind of liking china ebay.
.
But you are right Barkuti I did learn a lesson and will pay closer attention for sure, watch them da sale timers.
I will use paypal now for sure for the insurance, I ordered a triple UV light last night just for the 20mm aluminum reflector to go in a triple LG UV led light I’m modding. Made sure to find a seller that accepted paypal even it cost 50 cents more, Ali was the only place I could find it. If I can a find a item in the states for a few dollars more I’m gonna stick to that. After all if I’m going to get overcharged for a item then wait 3 weeks to get it and spend a couple hours trying to get my overcharged money back, why not just order in my country and have the item in 3 days for the same price. I can’t always find everything here in the US though.

Thanks to everyone who commented, life is always a learning experience.
