Amazon Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

Thanks teacher. The signal strength at my house is 0 but 1/2 mile from me is good because of a hill . I used to get analog signal years ago with an outdoor antenna so I am tempted to try again if I can get that Vipon deal stacked with the Amazon coupon. $7, what the hell.

My pleasure pennzy. I think I read you can put these fhings on a pole or the eve of the house to get some height & they work even better. Would have to add some extra Co-ax cable though.
And I agreeā€¦ 7 bux wonā€™t break me either.

The mailman is going to need a bigger truck. :stuck_out_tongue:

This is the one on Vipon for $9.99:

Thatā€™s a great deal. I picked up a similar one from Amazon for close to $30 last week. :person_facepalming:

I am able to pick up 3 out of the 4 major local channels here, and considering that I am in a bit of a valey/depression, thatā€™s pretty good.

EDIT: Here is another one for $5:

Deal starts in 20 hours.

I got that one pennzy, but the $5 off Amazon coupon would not stack for me. It disappeared when I entered the Vipon Coupon. Oh well, still a good deal.

Me too. Wouldnā€™t stack .

Yeah, thatā€™s it Peteā€¦. thanks for finding it. .
I donā€™t know why I couldnā€™t?? :person_facepalming: . ā€˜Operator errorā€™ I guess.

3 or 4 channels seem pretty good for living where you described too.

Iā€™m curious as to how it will work at my house. Guess Iā€™ll know in a few days.

I should have clarified, I am actually picking up 14 channels total. I was just referring to the 4 major OTA networks (ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC), out of which I pick up 3.

Thanks Peteā€¦ even better news!!

Astrolux MF02 on BG $ 79.00 till 01-13

Vipon has several Lux Pro lights for $5. I ordered them for Christmas gifts next year. Great gifting lights for parents and older people who only run alkaline batteries.

Nice deal on those Batteries .

It isā€¦ if they have at least 80% of the possible chargeā€¦
Trying to figure out how I can test the capacity with the chargers I haveā€¦ Not usually trying to test primary batteries.

What chargers do you have?

Opus 3100, for example, has a pure discharge mode which you could use for this purpose.

I do have an Opus (3400 which is the same as the 3100 v2). The discharge cuts off at 2.8V which doesnt do much when Iā€™m testing for capacity on a primary lithium cell. A primary lithium will drop to that level after a VERY short period of time. The discharge is modeled for a Lithium Ion which makes sense.

Unless Iā€™m mistaken, there is no way to set continuous discharge to obtain full capacity.

Do it the old fashion way, use a light with 1 amp draw and time it.

Got a coupon code from Vipon for the 16 and 20 count and think I spent less than $10 with the 10% off coupon. Got them and I donā€™t even have a dedicated cr123 light. Might sell them to my boss since he has a couple of Surefire lights that take them.

And the light is still usable at such diminished voltage?

What if you use a very low discharge current, such as 100 mA? Will it still drop to 2.8V after a very short period of time?

I have a RC hobby charger, if anyone could tell me a reasonable or industry standard for current and cutoff voltage I am willing to test one to know the true capacityā€¦

Its my understanding its standard for a CR123a.

Take a look at the discharge curve on this review:

https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/21588

It shows the drop to ~2.75 for the bulk of the test.

Putting a light on it would give me some time valuesā€” but to be honest it would be impossible to determine capacity from a test like that.
