BLF - I've got a problem!

You do realise there is only one safe way to sort this. Nuking DX from orbit ought to solve it - to misquote the script from Aliens which I watched with a couple of serving Army officers till we got thrown out of the cinema for laughing.

LOL They really threw you guys out for laughing?

We laughed loud and long and wouldn't stop. Sigourney Weaver was carrying enough armaments to kit out a couple of companies of soldiers. Then it got sillier and sillier. 1000 rounds of 7.62 ammunition weighs around 60lbs unpackaged. She fired many thousand of those. Then there was the weight of the weapons. Once we started laughing at it, we couldn't stop and we were spoiling the entertainment for everyone else.

That's really funny.

Now I'm gonna have to re-rent Aliens. Laughing

This is now the longest thread here yet....

So enjoy laughing your way through Aliens. Ask Al, who knows way more about soldiering than I do.

All i can say is That WE ALL have a problem....lol.

I just got my new AW 18650's, 14500's and ICR123's in the mail today. Cool They are very nice and shiny.........plus the 18650 is huge. Surprised Still waiting for the charger though. Frown

So did the lights get brighter when it got dark over there.......

Yes they did my friend, yes they did. Smile

All I need now are more 18650 flashlights. Any suggestions?

Any 18650 flashlight suggestions for me Don?

Aurora SH-032 is nice.

The Piritlight SG-L8 is a nice thrower but take a look at my review here. The build quality of mine was atrocious but now that it is sorted it is a good light.

One of the multi-LED high power lights is fun. I like the Romisen RC-T6. Over $50

I have the Aurora AK-P7 and like it, there is a review of it on Jayki.com but I like it more than Jay does. Not that cheap for what it is.

Then there's the P60 hosts like the Uniquefire L2 - well made and bright. This is with an R5 dropin.

I like the looks of the Aurora SH-032 (I'm starting to really like stainless steel Smile) but I really like the Romisen RC-T6 and the many different battery configurations. Do you have the Romisen RC-T6? Thanks Don!

There are a bunch of beamshots of it here.

and here

The beamshots are awesome! I like that it has plenty of throw and flood. It doesn't look like it can be used with RCR123's, just CR123's and 18650's. Am I wrong?

You can run it on 16340/RCR123. But..

Runtime is short and you don't really get enough extra light for it to be worth it. You can run it on:

2x18650

2x17500/18500 - it has a removable extension piece hence the variety of batteries you can run it on.

4xRCR123

3xRCR123

It'd also work on 4 CR123 primaries but that would get expensive very fast.

I still haven't counted out the Aurora SH-032 because the stainless steel part of it keeps me coming back for a look. Laughing Thanks for all your help and expertise Don!

I'd also take a look at other multi-LED devices such as the Trustfire TR-1200 which will take up to 3 18650s.

Then there's the Ultrafire WF-1300 which DX don't seem to have. Not cheap but ought to be screaming bright.

And a very long way from cheap - cost me $230 and I'm eagerly awaiting it Runs on 4 C NiMH or 3D NiMH when it isn't as bright but still silly bright.

No reason to doubt the 2000 lumen claim. I'm off to the serious wilds in May where I have about 800 yards down the road line of sight in a forest.

Must make up some stakes and signs for every 100 feet or so. My measuring tape runs a hundred feet at a time so this shouldn't be hard. Will need to print these before I set off.

Plan to do beamshots of all the big lights. I've already been warned that the new light will make everything else seem pathetically dim. Will do a bunch of beamshots and see. It'll take a while to get them up as no phone line there - the phone company wanted $50,000 to put a line in (In a national Park so they'd have to bury 5 miles of phone line - cost $30,000 to get electricity there in the '80's) and no mobile data reception at all within 20 miles. I'll write it all up and upload it in the second week of May. Plan to do beamshots of every light I own from the Photon clones on up so wait about a month for hundreds of beamshots. I'll try to split them up into sections from the button cell lights to the D cell lights by brightness so you don't have to dig through hundreds of beamshots to get to the ones that interest you. I have about 200 feet line of sight in the garden so the little lights should get a fair trial too.

If I had a month or two free I'd take the lightbox, the meters, all my batteries and all my chargers - but I don't so I'll just do what I can. I'll probably take everything anyway (Well, everything that'll fit in the trunk of my car) but probably won't get time to take all the shots as it is only dark from about 10pm till 3am just now. I live a long way north of Moscow and most of Canada so the nights are rather short at this time of year. Hopefully the snow will have melted by them - it snowed this morning.

That light is something else. I think that's the way to go with a SST though. No reason to hold back, just drive it to its full current and run it for all it is worth. Otherwise what's the point? I like the variable switch.

Sounds like you will be spending a lot of quality time with your flashlights. Defnitely take your lightbox in case it is raining.
