Barry suggested some changes to the name & logo if possible as it is closely resembles the logo on the GT which was done by Lumintop ( a different factory than the Q8 and lantern projects.
There shouldânt be a problem using LT unless GT has a patent on the âTâ :disappointed: âŚâŚ Thinking it would be a problem is just more PC BS run amuck!
I think we should see if the guy who made the logo (canât recall his username) could make some revisions. I liked it most out of all the names that have been pitched.
If Barry and Sofirn want to be sensitive to another manufacturer, I think thatâs okay. We donât want to stir up trouble for no reason. Lumintop made the GT, so their brand is associated with it. Sometimes itâs better to back off a little and compromise rather than hurt your relationship. We do want these manufacturers to continue working with us, after all.
But, I think a reminder isnât too out of place here. The BLF GT is âoursâ not Lumintopâs. It was a BLF design before we even had a manufacturer on board to make it. The name and logo therefore are âoursâ as well. It was designed here along with several others, and there was a poll to choose which one would go on the light. So, weâre really not outside of our rights using it if that is what people decide they want to go with. I guess the real consideration would be whether the BLF GT Team, or âTeam Gigglesâ as theyâve called themselves, would be okay with this project using a similar logo.
For now it is the BLF lantern.
But there may be others coming in the future.
For this reason I consider this name to be too generic.
I somewhat like how Q8 name included some technical details. Maybe L8?
Still think that âBLF companionâ is a perfect name.
Truly on style with what this lantern will be.
The number 1 companion to take with you on a trip.
I think sometimes you donât want to choose a name thatâs too obvious to have a good and strong name.
That is sad news, I really liked the BLF LT logo, which was also perfectly in line with the other BLF flashlight names. On the one hand I can understand that they donât want it to sound to similar to a product of an other manufacturer, but on the other hand I would also say that BLF could be seen as a kind of brandname/ trademark itself.
If we canât use BLF Lt I would support BLF lighthouse.
