Leave any rubberbands in an attic with sunlight streaming in, so might be heat and ozone combined, and they’ll lose any’n’all elasticity and snap when you touch them. Worse when they dry out on the outside but still have a creamy nougat center.

I had an entire bag of big and wide sand colored rubber bands in a drawer in an air conditioned house turn to goo… they just sort of all melted together. Anywhere I had used those rubber bands, they melted to whatever surface was underneath them. Some stuff got ruined, couldn’t clean it.

How I loathe this sticky $5#%! I once owned a Logitech LX710 keyboard and mouse combo. The cordless desktop laser mouse was the worst thing at all. After some months of use it permanently oozed some sticky, oily residue on the left side, exactly where you rest your right thumb. I tried everything to wipe it away but after all it was in vain. Eventually, the mouse ended up in a trash bin but the keyboard still works like a charm.
