Convoy S2+: the selected group is reset after battery disconnect

Sorry, but this is not a defect, it’s physics. Just cut the power cleanly without bouncing when you unscrew the cap and everything will be fine. Look at the signal with a scope, it will show horrible noise.

Do you turn off your computer by pulling the plug as well?

I’m curious as to why one would normally disassemble a flashlight when it’s on, or to turn it off that way rather than using the switch. I’m sure there’s a good reason for doing so but I’m not clear as to what it is.

Thanks

That was sort of my point, but I guess my satire didn’t come across as well as intended.

Well this explains why my 12 group torches reset to the first mode with a pressure switch. Damn it’s annoying.

Now I know to instruct customers to have mode memory on when using the pressure switch, very helpful

Just tested my new Convoy C8+ stock and it looks like it’s been fixed.

Observation:

Old revision with the bug = 10 taps to enter config
New revision = 20 taps

EDIT: Bug hasn’t been fixed :frowning: it only happens when screwing the tail on though. If you unscrew it, click the switch off and then screw it back on, it doesn’t reset.

All that’s required is turning the switch off before untwisting the tail, it’s not normal to take it apart while its on.

The S2+ is an excellent torch to have when you need to escape a haunted mansion or spooky graveyard or maize maze or pumpkin patch. Just make sure to not unscrew any parts of it while it’s on!

20 taps seems like a much better design. Getting into configuration mode with just 10 taps is too easy and can cause accidental activation from my experience.

I didn’t untwist or twist the tail. I just used it as it is. It just reset itself randomly.

That’s interesting, I thought that the self-reset thing was just a quirk of such an affordable light - turns out I got one of the defective ones as well. It annoyed me at first, but the light is such a good deal I just chose to overlook the niggle I guess.

Did you make sure everything is tight, both head and tail, retaining rings, cleaned all non anodized parts? That’s the only way to know that it wasn’t a connection issue while memory mode was disabled

Mine also has reset today while I was holding it in my pocket. 3 more are on order and then I’ll gather some stats and revert here.

Edited my comment above, bug wasn’t fixed, it was just harder to achieve
