I still have six incan flashlights and two Coleman propane lanterns.
One 3D Mag 85.
One 2cC Mag ROP
One old Rayovac from the 30s with a magnum star 5cell bulb and 6aa nimh cells
One old eveready (?) 3D “miner’s” light running a halogen bulb on 6aa nimh.
One Surefire e2e stock because the beam is fantastic.
Lastly, a Maglite Solitaire so I don’t forget how it used to be…
I still use them all; probably the ROP the most, because with the lop FM reflector, the beam is perfect.
Being a pedant, my lights are NiMh and Li-ion powered
But yes, P60 xenon drop-in in a Solarforce L1T host is quite nice, something quite satisfying about the beam, it’s also handy for informal comparisons to lower CCT LEDs.
I have a bunch of MagLites that sit empty in a closet. Never could bring myself to upgrade them because it costs more than a new Led light. Might keep the largest in the car for a thumper.
I have given up on them… retired my last Mag this spring after I dropped it and the bulb popped and the spare in the tailcap had already been used. I would like 1 P60 incan, but have never picked one up.
Someone gave me a Maglite Solitaire. It’s a nice looking blue tube, but a pathetic excuse for a light. I’d be better off with a box of matches I think. It’s on a spare keychain until I decide what keychain light I want to get.
Yes indeed. I carried by Firefoxes FF5 HID last night. It’s a beast and doesn’t overheat even on full blast. Wish I could say the same about my nutburner pocket LEDs
I’ve got a fancy old Philips incandescent bulb in my bedside lamp which has some sort of coating that transforms the already lovely ~2000K incan lighting into a very tasty rose tinted warm glow. I will miss it when it no longer illuminates my boudoir.
...still own any non-led.... No. No incans for me. The transition from sub-junk incans to real performance led lights is one of the very few modern events that I am happy about.
...still not yet own any non led... Yes. No lep, hid, etc, for me, yet. I do not want to accidentally cause problem for anyone far away, and I like to rapid cycle on/off on certain occasions.
Yes I still have a bunch of incans including a Streamlite TL3, Tekna Splashlite (still a nice light in my opinion), and the notorious USL of much CPF drama. (I also have the older LED version of the Spashlite). I don’t know if my USL still works. I haven’t used any of these in ages, but I used to carry the Splashlite once in a while, so I might do it again soon just because. The rest, meh, I guess I can give them away to thankful takers if there is a power failure here.
My incans are all older Surefires. G3, couple of NIB 6P, M3, M961… Awesome lights but obviously out-performed in every way these days. Still amazing how bright “110” incandescent Surefire lumens actually is.
Well, I also keep a couple of 3D incans (led drop ins but spare krypton bulbs) and Mini-mags with spare incan bulbs. Because why not?
no, not really, dimming a bulb makes a very yellow light. i have old custom maglite inc. switch with 3 modes, from Download, but it is not that great, in med and low. That is why surefire came up with dual bulbs for x10 dominator, and some old lights had bulbs with dual filament, for high and low.
I’d consider owning a SF 6P, Streamlight Scorpion, or small Maglite that was incan. They are horrible choices nowadays with how they drink batteries and eat bulbs but that nostalgia. I’ll probably add an incan at some point for old times sake.
