By the way is the bezel removable?
this thing is just huge. totally not size-efficient. with the extender on it’s as big as 18650 lights which is no surprise because it uses the SRT5 head (but probably different electronics)
i believe there’s enough meat to ream it out to 18mm to accept 18500 cell. only then would it be halfway decent, and with shims could still accept cr123a / aa

The only difference between the heads of the SRT3, and SRT5, is that the SRT5 is driven a bit harder. That's it.
You can run the srt5 with an eneloop, or even regular AA, I just wouldn't suggest going anywhere near the maximum brightness setting.
Also felt it was silly of them not to leave the tube on the SRT3 with a width to accept thicker batteries at 18mm. Would have been great to use with 18350s.
