Well this is a terrible turn of events. I have just about zero interest in a cool white AAA light. Still waiting on shipping but I guess this will most likely end up on a for-trade list
This is disappointing. Letās hope that they did not mess up all the orders and some of us get the correct tint. Oh well, maybe it will become an emitter swap project.
Hopefully my aluminum order doesnāt have the emitters swapped.
If you get the light with an unwanted tint, I can buy it from you
- shipping?
They just canceled my order and refunded. Said out of stock and offered a $10 coupon. Sounds like they are playing games to wipe out the original discount. Ordered 2 days ago.
Looks like I will only be paying shipping for my 2 orders of copper AAA. They said thereās a mixup of tint but I ordered both Nichia And Cree CPG. So for 12.71 less $10.00 credit, I only paid 2.71 per piece. And I receive both tints that I like.
Holy mixup batman!
I will have to wait and see when it arrives, but it is a complete shambles. Really, they should just take it on the head for their/their suppliers stupidity and send the right ones out - no credit and they pay for the returns should they want them back.
I just got the email too, though the light hasnāt arrived yet. Itās nice of them to offer the $10 coupon, but what about the $20 coupon that was used? If the light is returned, is that reinstated?
No, a $10 refund plus keep it would be more appropriate. Store credit is worthless to me, I only joined to get this, I highly doubt Iād ever use them again after this either.
There is no defending sending out the wrong item, then expecting people to keep it or return for refund (but not be able to offer the correct item at the same price). Itās not even in stock to reorder even if they did grant us the original $20 voucher back, and the $10 one.
Itās not just a ālittleā difference either lol Also- $2+ of that $10 is the shipping which WE paid for! so itās actually only $7+ credit, and when we order something else, weāll have to pay shipping again, so another say$3 taking it down to a mere $5 actual credit.
Just received an email saying the item was back ordered and cancelled.
I guess they didnāt expect a spike of orders from a single item and realized $10 for a lumintop AAA wasnāt a good sell for them.
Unfortunately, the $20 coupon is lost. But you can create a new account and there is another coupon valid until Dec 3rd. Only brass and CW emitter available
The 219c is pretty green anyway
sour grapes
lol
when life gives me lemons, I make lemonade
I was going to remove the 219c anyway
I have plans to install a 219b
ā¦
good idea
someone should take you up on that
I also got the email. May try an emitter swap or be up for a trade if I get the cool white.
you just cost me 10 bucksā¦ lol
thanks a lot
Now Im stuck with a brass tool I need to mod
first world problems
I dont even want brassā¦ and surely dont want cool white
anybody who wants to trade for copperā¦ any LED, lmk
sheesh
slippery slope
I need to step away from the buy it now buttonā¦ lol
I got the same led mix up email. Thatās exactly what I thought if I dont get the Nichia, Iāll just put one in it and do the low resistor mod while Iām there.
.
I tried going with a 3k resistor for low a few days ago and its to low. Lumen tube with Extech LT45 reported about .15 lumens. 1k was reporting around .5 lumen.
Iām thinking around 1.5k resistor would be about right for moonlight for me.
Iām somewhat tempted to purchase the aluminum one with a Nichia, and swap the innards of the head with the copper one. Then probably gift the aluminum one to someoneā¦
ā¦But then I feel like Iād be just burning a lot more money than I originally set out to spend.
Thatās a really bad move from them. They should send us the right flashlight and let us keep the wrong one (as the $10 coupon is useless). Also, the refund doesnāt include shipping and will ruin my $20 new user coupon (under their TOS, itās unauthorized to create a new account to get it once more). I also paid more to pay for the USD currency conversion which isnāt going to be compensatedā¦
I guess Iāll dispute it on Paypal because I want a full refund shipping included and never have to use their website ever again (especially since itās out of stock)
If there was a way to resend it and get the right one I wouldnāt even complain, mistakes do happen. But here, they are deliberately screwing us with all their coupon and forcing us to buy more stuff on their website without even given us back the discount we originally had
Me thinks they pulled them for sale to allow time to inspect and re label the inventory, then they will return for sale after which time the original victims (customers) have been flushed out of the pipeline.
No way they sold out of both versions at the same time.
However it should be noted, Drop.com is not the maker of these lights, it is Lumintop who has screwed this up the same way about 2 years ago with the Titanium Tool.
Have one and it sits where it belongs, in the box.
They just put the wrong SKU label on the package, box clearly says Cree.
Think it was sold through BangGood but could be wrong, regardless the seller took sheet for it and they were not at fault.
If the maker would just have a low power UV light that the flashlight has to pass under before at time of labeling it would be very easy for workers to realize which is which.
But that makes too much sense.
Iāll reflow something into mine after it shows up, itās close to being here, but now I could give a rats azz when it comes. Not like itās the only copper nichia tool in the house so no big loss really.
Later,
Keith
Hope the LED board can be removed. Have some SST20 boards left from C01Sā. Not as nice as the Nichia, but better than this Cree.
OK, I had an email back from CS this morning - looks like we will be keeping the $20 sign up voucher too, so $30 credit IF you return it, at their cost, or keep it and have $10.
āThis is Brett with Drop Community Support. I will be assisting you with this issue today.
Upon checking our warehouse, we found that we do not have any inventory to dispatch a replacement, which is why this was not offered as a solution. Our business model is based on group purchases, so we do not have the ability to procure individual replacements from the vendor at this time.
You would be able to receive your $20 credit back as well as the full refund if you decided to return the flashlight. It does indeed look like your flashlight is still in transit. This update email was sent to everyone who had ordered the flashlight regardless of if they have been delivered yet or not. As mentioned in the email, if you receive the incorrect flashlight and decide you would like to return it for a refund please do reach back out at that time.ā
