[♛ FreemeGB] Fireflies PL47 Gen II 4*XP-L/ Nichia/ SST20 Hi CRI 21700 Right Angle Flashlight - ENDED
Mine is the 219B version and I’ve been running a 50E in it with no problems, magnetic tailcap and all.
Ok, I’m glad to hear that.
Wonder what happened to Lohtse’s light, if those 18650s are 69mm and still got squished,
HONDARIDER:Has anyone received their lights yet? Sure seems like its taking quite some time to get these.
Look 4 posts above my dude.
Gotcha, Thanks.
Touchofred:I was about to order these lights for the company i work for, to use them in line of work.
But now I’ll have to wait and see… I ordered one for my self, so I need to check that out first…So the batteries I ordered are not going to fit? I ordered 50e’s for my nichia I ordered.
Those seems to be 70,8mm according to Nkon. This doesnt bodes well tbh…Mine is the 219B version and I’ve been running a 50E in it with no problems, magnetic tailcap and all.
Have you tested the light with the Headlamp Strap and with 18650 button Tops?
Just curious if you notice the same issues as above.

I think he said the 18650s were fine, just the button top 21700s were a problem.
ok so our PL47 have ACTUALLY arrived BUT what the hell!!! Bought them to use as a HEADLAMP and even bought the headlamp strap but its USELESS there’s a 2mm gap(approx) ALL the way round the pl47 when fitted… SO the actual headlamp just bounces around and the points to the floor…… This is the same issue with ALL the PL47s we have bought and headbands… SO is NOT a one off.
This renders the pl47 as headlamp useless…. also tried a few 18650’s BUT HELL BECAREFUL….
DON’T use BUTTON TOPS as will not work and soon as you tighten the end cap it crushes the button top in to the battery…
On the PLUS side it will take the 18650’s(button tops) without adapter and run WITHOUT issues.
Maybe Firefly should have checked and but a warning up related to the batteries as he must have checked before hand to see it they are ok.

Very disappointed in all this and yes an email has been sent to firefly…
These are just the issues so far….
Can you clarify this? What button top were you using that got crushed? If it was an 18650 were you also using the spacer?
How did the spring crush the button top though?
If the positive terminal of the light was a brass, I would’ve believed it.
But a small spring crushing a button top 18650 in a 21700 light?
How much force was put on the cell to have been enough for a plastic deformation of the spot welded top?
Did you use the 18650 adapter with a protected button top 18650?
Translation: The results of his test of button top 18650’s are aladeen.
Lol, this is perfect.

The fact that he said button tops (protected I imagine?) work without spacer means the crushed one must have been WITH the spacer. 18650 to 21700 spacers have a metal button on top that could have bent the contact inward like that woth enough force.
Sorry, but I see that as user error.
Ill reserve judgment on the headband until someone tries it with the clip on.

The PL47 body wont fit the headband well, so there will be a gap as you described.
The right way to use the headband , please see the photo below
PL47 is well-balanced as headlamp with battery installed
Lohtse, what length are those batteries? Never seen a button top 21700 besides an Acebeam rewrap with a protection circuit which is crazy long.
they are STANDARD 18650 olights/odepro batteries but used the adapter the PL47 came with hence the CRUSHED tops…

So the headband is STILL useless as you can not POINT it in the Direction you require ie down to the ground whilst you are looking a head like all othe head lamps.you have STRAIGHT AHEAD or STRAIGHT AHEAD (at a terrible up angle)…… the angel is about 15degrees above the horizon… as in an UP angle……
useless for caving of actual hill walking when you need to change the angle.
also what happens to the pl47 gets hot??? surely it will soften? and then it certainly does not look secure in the clio bit on the headlamp band… VERY easy to nock out

Looks great, thank you FireFlies.
surely these headbands would have been FAR better
just tried band from the Xtar warboys and works a treat. one it comes with is not suitable for much at all…
Just put it in the headband you get with it and then LOOK at the floor…notice where the actual beam is!!!
I like the look of this one:
Might get it if the provided one is crap
Heres a few few beam shots showing the angle of the beam… If you look at the angle on the head and the direction it should be pointing NOTHING matches….
I have crushed TWO 18650 button tops as I thought(due to no warning) the adpater would have been fine… I have headbands that are pointless as they point in no useful direction… All minor issues I guess but ALL could have been recitfied by putting the information on website and providing an actual headband that will work correctly….

I did say 18650!!!
lohtse:bought the headlamp strap but its USELESS there’s a 2mm gap(approx) ALL the way round
I don’t have one of those, but I wonder… does it work when the clip is installed? It seems like maybe the clip could grab onto the headlamp holder.
still too big… had already tried

no actual unreasonable force use I simply tighten the cap to discover the damage once battery removed…… The 18650’s in the photos are Olights HDC but similar damage was done to an Odepro 18650…. brass cap was in adapter…at the time
