Iām sorry if this has been addressed already, but was there ever an update on a stainless bezel for the FW3A? I know it was discussed at one point. Iād really like one.
It depends on itās quality. I have no clue how good or bad this new FET is. On really high powered lights, 30A+, cheap ones might burn up and fail, but the FW3A doesnt pull many amps. Sometimes cheap FETs will leak current and make the LEDs glow all the time. This can be an issue if the parasitic drain is high, but if itās low enough, itās no big deal.
If that was caused by a FET downgrade, thatās a pretty big problem. If it was caused by something else, like stray bits of metal in places it shouldnāt be, itās also a problem but a very different type. There have been some documented cases of the inside of the light having extra bits of metal inside so it needed cleaning before it could work normallyā¦ but a leaky FET would be a brand new issue if itās real.
Is there any chance they could investigate to determine what was allowing current to leak?
Speaking of more changes. I got a raw AL model and it appears to have a Carclo copy + AR glass. The optic window looks more clear but it doesnāt look as well focused either due to the size of the LED opening or due to the height above the dome. Need to open it up and do more investigating.
When I take spectral measure of this new one the lux is worse (less) but the Duv is better than even my UCL + real 10511. I donāt trust my sphere to accurately tell me which has higher output but I will say itās close enough that I think the difference is more beam angle/TIR shape related than just poor efficiency of the optic. CCT and CRI are also close enough that it should be all the same bin.

From their Facebook page:
Ah I see they finally changed the 18350 tubeā¦
I might have told Neal (I did) I didnāt like the look of the first versionā¦this new version looks better and is going to be smaller the ones I makeā¦
