good budget Neutral AAA w/ moon light?

And it has long-term memory, unlike the Ti3. Just be ready to swap emitters.

Why change the emitter? (It’s available in neutral white)

Tint. The usual XP-L that comes in the T10 NW nowadays has an avocado-like green/yellow color going that’s just not nice to look at. I have one and I’m not a fan of the tint at all, even if the torch itself is very good.

i have the SC62w which is the same size as an AA light so that fills that role. With the AAA i can throw it in my shorts when i am at home and not notice it, same when i am at work in my dress pants. thanks for the suggestion. if i was hunting for an AA id get the T10.

Thanks for the image Neutralfan. i just ordered the A01. hoping it wont have the NMM.

All in all, it’s an interesting topic as there doesn’t seem to be many flashlight models with the requested criteria

Look to the left of the op at the thorfire add. 2 x AAA penlight with a nice moon low mode. Nicely spaced with medium and high, no blinky’s which are kinda silly in a penlight anyway. I’d invest in either nimh’s or lithium primaries to avoid the alkaleak syndrome but it’s inexpensive enough not to worry.

The UI’s mode memory/reset has changed. Instead of resetting back to moon mode after x seconds, it always goes to the next mode,…

The driver has changed. If you unscrew the head and look inside, the driver in the head no longer says Manker”

Astrolux-A01-different-versions
I’ve been testing the newer Astrolux A01:
If I get the light onto medium and then turn it off, 2 hours later I turn it on and it I get high mode.
If I get the light onto medium and then turn it off, 3 hours later I turn it on and it I get low mode.
Somewhere between 2 and 3 hours this light resets.
I use the light each morning and it comes on in low mode as I want, that’s good I suppose. But if I turn it off then I’ll get medium mode unless I wait for more than 2-3 hours.

I bought a Manker E01 for $15.95 from Manker’s site.
If I get the light onto medium and then turn it off, 5 seconds later I turn it on and it I get high mode.
If I get the light onto medium and then turn it off, 11 seconds later I turn it on and it I get low mode.
Manker says it resets after being off for 10 seconds, happily this information is correct.

If you don’t want the new (completely rubbish) UI then I’d recommend buying the Manker E01 for a few more dollars and forget about the Astrolux.
interesting that my Astrolux S41 4x Nichia 219B has a lower low than the A01

+1

In the mode description of BGs ad it says in bold red (not included memory mode). I’ll confirm once i get it.

I was planning to get the Ti3 but picked up the Archer 1A instead. Bigger, but still small enough for my uses.

Wicked. Hope it serves you well.

ryukin2000, did you receive the A01 yet? I am a little curious about whether it has the next mode memory or no memory or whatever…

Around 2:27 in the video review, this guy says his has NMM Shopping with Andrew Jackson. 5 Keylights Under $20!

…it too came with NMM. soon BG is supposedly going to send me a new head correcting this flaw…

UPDATE - My replacement head came in today from BG. Unfortunately it acts just like the original head with Next Mode Memory. =(

But I am just going to put this light aside in a drawer somewhere & write it off as a lost. I will not ask them to try to correct this anymore

Ugh. Must be the same pea-soup green XP-L that came with my F1…

Check some lf these out & see if they work for you. I ordered the JET Beam yesterday, I think it was around $10 IIRC.

HERE is a link to his thread bere on BLF.

Damn! I gifted four A01 for Christmas, and another lately, and now i’m worried those may be the NMM affected ones. I dropped a cell in them, checked they where working and put them back in their box. Didn’t check tint or UI. Looking back it was a known problem late 2016 - and still is apparently. :person_facepalming:

Haven’t taken apart mine, but if the driver’s accessible, the dreaded Pencil Trick might work.

If n00bz, they might not notice either tint nor NMM, though.

That’s the bright side… Sometime i wish i forget all about lights and be happy with anything a bit brighter then and old school incand - a cheap SK68 clone caught me into the obsession a few years back. The newer A01 NMM version is reported to be brighter too.

And… the last one i gifted was purple, and instantly made the recipient happy - whatever the UI and tint was.
I’m about to get a couple more…
