Lithium Ions no longer allowed via air mail?

A friend who flies for FedEx tells me one of their 747-800’s departing from HKG recently had an emergency landing when a pallet load of lithium ion batteries caught fire. He says this type of scenario has happened more than once in recent years.

fedex does not have 747-800s, lol, but yea, there has been quite a few stories on planes burning up possibly due to igniting batteries

i bought some 14500s and 18560s from manafont a month ago and had no problems getting them

the ban starts at early days of Oct.

No, last item I ordered was on the 15th of October and they were received today. Four Li-ion batts. I dont know if I was lucky or not… All other batts that were shipped either late Sept or early October have been received.

in early Oct, batteries can be only shipped from BeiJing port.

in mid Oct, All ports of China Post stopped it.

DHL Global Mail and SG Mail are ok, but more expensive.
