RMM, I know in the past you have been trying to figure out a good way to properly charge those cool high volt 4.35v 18650’s. If you are like me and love single 18650 lights powered by 7135 based drivers, and would love the benefit of the newest LG 3000mah and 3200mah 4.35v or Samsung ICR18650-32A 3200mah 4.35v. Not only would you get near a half hour of 3.04A runtime before deregulation, but the brightness ramp down is way less than with Pana-18650B’s, and it will stay much brighter a lot longer. These 4.35v cells are exactly what a 7135 based driver needs!
I have been coming up empty on my quest of a nice 4.35v charger, until now! It’s not available yet, but I would keep an eye on this charger, and when it becomes available, I think it will be very popular. The price is estimated to be between $20-25, which is fantastic.
I just contacted Panasonic about your idea, and they told me that it was indeed possible. The new cell chemistry is called Li-Kf but they are having a little problem sourcing the raw materials. The Li-Kf stands for Lithium Kitten Fart. Do you have any idea how hard it is to collect kitten farts?
Sorry guys, my computer died. I'm on a new one now but it is taking a little bit to get everything migrated and running. I will be ordering some of the new LG 3200mAh 4.35v cells in the future, and there is a high likelihood that I will be carrying the SP1 charger (among others). What other XSTAR stuff do you guys like / want to see?
P.S. What do you guys think about the BTU Shocker and DQG Triple?
Buy, mod, sell, buy, mod, sell... that's how the ecomony keeps running, after all. 'My spending is your income, your spending is my income', as the hated Socialist tyrant Paul Krugman puts it... ;)
totally-off-topic edit: JonnyC, didn't I see you mention a while back you had or were working on code for a Tiny13/SRK driver hybrid? I've been meaning to send you a PM about that.
I like 150mA for my efest10440. Since 10440s are already limited I don’t want to risk losing any capacity from charging too quick. For efest10440 150mA is 0.49C, 250mA is 0.81C. Adafruit micro lipo is an easy option (100mA). Connect an AAA battery holder without soldering (twist & tape).
