i have tried it with cold and with hox candle wax: it doesnt stick on smooth cold surfaces.

Pardon my ignorance, but isnt there, oh wait, just realised, water based lube wont work because it dissolves in water and thus is only good for some, ahem, other certain uses, not related with flashlights, unless that flashlight is being abused lol

I have some Super Lube on the way. ( They make several different types of products, so be sure to get the correct one).
hard to tell. i have applied super lube oil onto the waxed threads. the threads are now well lubed ;)
I wouldn't use graphite on an aluminum flashlight as it can cause corrosion...
