New type of 18650's?

Would you be able to build a 12V power pack from them perhaps?

I’ve ordered a couple of these to power a radio repeater I’m designing, but it would be much better to build your own I think.

Are these ‘Mainfire’ a similar item?

Perhaps you could build a 12,000 mAh power pack using 4 of these in parallel.

I’ve been fiddling with the LG D1s and the E1s for a good year in my single cell lights and they do hold a higher voltage for a longer period of time, while not sacrificing much capacity to the various hi-cap 4.2v cells we typically use.

Remember, li-ions start degrading once off the assembly line, whether you use them, or not, so you might want to stagger your purchases with newer, fresher cells, if you’ll not be using them all that often.

Wow, nice, that Sanyo is a seriously good battery

Excellent graphs, for me in Europe the LG has greater appeal due to lower price and almost identical performance to Sanyo in the 3.5A graph
Sanyo 6.95.
LG. 5.75.

Nice!

Awesome Tally-ho! I have be waiting for this comparison for a long while now… I have a 30Q already and it is AWESOME. HG2’s are on order. I needed to test them side by side, or see a reliable test published, before I bought a large quantity of either one. I wonder still though what they look like in the 7 to 10A range as this is typically the highest current my cells see. Above that I find a way to add cells to the system.

I’m an eBay seller and recently came across this thread via google (have lurked here before though).

I’ve done a bit of testing on the NCR18650GA’s as I have them in stock (as well as all the batteries based on the new chemistry), and happen to use the same ZKE test equipment.

Here’s my results on the NCR18650GA’s @ 10A discharge.

Haven’t had time to do many comparisons vs the MJ1’s, but I did give a few NCR GA’s to a friend who used to use NCR18650PF’s in a worklight I built for him, he has been quite impressed with them so far, holding up much longer than the PF’s.

Sanyo also just released the NCR18650G, its rated @ 3600mah, but only a 6A discharge, similar to the NCR18650B, and has a higher price point than the GA, not really worth it IMO.

Some excellent info there mate, welcome to BLF and thanks for taking the time to post up those results.

The NCR18650G is nothing new. It’s been around for about a year and a half. But for reasons still unknown, it never became widely available. It’s ALWAYS out of stock at Orbtronic, for instance. And it’s not available bare anywhere. Also, according to this review by HJK, it appears that the NCR18650G is not much of an improvement on the NCR18650B - perhaps not even as much as an improvement as the NCR18650GA.

right now i am able to buy the ” NCR18650BF for about ~$4.30 in a 12 pack”:http://www.aliexpress.com/item/12-pcs-Lot-New-Original-Sanyo-NCR18650BF-18650-3400-mah-3-7-v-Rechargeable-Battery-for/32389391105.html
and from what i see the ” NCR18650GA is ~$7.05 in a 10 pack “:https://www.fasttech.com/products/1/10010486/2399300-authentic-sanyo-ncr18650ga-3-6v-3500mah

and what do i get 120mAh for ~2x the price

The newest hot item is always priced high. Supply and demand / they will charge whatever they can get people to pay. When it’s no longer that new and hot the price will come down.

Also, is the NCR18650BF a 10A cell like the NCR18650GA? Or is it more comparable to the NCR18650B?
