Official Thread for COMETA Refunding - Problem solving

Yes but it hasn”t appeared ?

I red that after the bad review, member has been contacted and a refound has been offered to them (they accepted and the review was not published)
Yesterday WonWurster emailed Neal again, linking this thread and the Italian one, asking full refund for all the member… They have so much to lose from this story.

Unfortunately, from our side that is all we can do.
Keep us updated.

That sounds like a short between the negative side of the emitter and the body.
We hear that happen fairly often with many lights — lights “stuck on high” and it may be an easy fix.
It can be a wire with insulation missing, or solder from the negative side of the emitter contacting the body.

Did you put tape over the solder bumps on the emitter?
Look for one of them being too high or with a whisker grounding it to the cover?

First off, I like BG. They are a habit I have developed thru BLF. Enough said on that illness :money_mouth_face:

I received 2 lights May 13, becoming a casualty in this unfortunate deception. I did not order and then stay on top of any posts since there is no time to baby sit my orders once placed. I ordered and then received them and tried them out with no prior knowledge of what I was in for. The 1A shorted out during the second cycling of mode use. I then inspected both, also a 3B, and was extremely disappointed to say the least. Was I becoming p o’d when I got online and started to learn about this cheap knock-off-attempt-in-progress and an unsafe one to top it off? You are correct! I was, . Did I let it effect my life and become irate over it? :innocent: If you said no, you are again correct, although I guess if I wasn’t so busy in life it could easily have torqued me and tempted me to get out the flame-thrower and proceed to char some arses, and rightly so  But that isn’t me, well, more accurately it could be me :weary: but not over this.

More importantly, did I at that time, and do I now have time to play any drawn-out procedure games to resolve this? Of course not and alot of others do not have time to deal with it. That is why it is refreshing to get on line (when time allows) and see this OP. THANK YOU BUDDA! It restores my gut instinct about BLF and what it is this site tries to instill in all members. IMO it is better resolve any issue with patience and respect, and call out any BS games when they are used to avoid proper settlements :+1:

For anyone interested here is a quick sequence of events.

Receive 2 lights May 13.
Rationalize that sh_t happens and accept it, then decide on what is the easiest approach to correct it AS TIME ALLOWS.
Begin BLF reading of posts to Learn of “bad” Cometa deal. AS TIME ALLOWS
Attempt claim with BG
+BG Website WILL NOT allow me to enter claim. Final “enter” command to officially submit completed claim form will not function+.
Correspond thru PP without escalating to Claim status. I want BG to do the right thing without filing PP claim. I like BG, lots of business with them.
BG responds with canned video crap.
I respond with good common sense, I politely told them to cut the crap, I do not have the time, do the right thing. I would like full credit and happily return the lights PPP, postage prepaid by BG.
I have not heard back from them since the 7th June email thru PP.

I have until the 16th to escalate this to a “claim” status.
Do you think it is necessary?

I appreciate the cordial way this post is helping to resolve this. “THANK YOU AGAIN”

Don, send it to BG in an email to customer service. That will start you claim process with them.

At this point surely BG knows what is happening and why is happening.
I think are they doing is trying to get away as much as they can.
They keep asking pics, videos, until you are tired and they can keep your money.
File a claim and put the link of this thread.
Tell paypal many other users made the claim for your same reason.
You are willing to return the light if the shipping fees are refund, or get a full refund since the light is not what you paid for.

To me is incredible how many customer are they willing to lose for a 40$ purchase, when an average customer will spend more than that in a couple of months.
Members who spent thousands of dollars on that site still got refused their right refund.

I will give BG another opportunity to respond to the email I just sent thru PP. I included the link in the email. I have until the 16th with PP and the emails are of their records, should a PP claim be required. I hope not

Thanks again for the assistance being provided by all!

*Why don’t we boycott Banggood *until such time as they acknowledge that they are selling defective and misleading lights. I am in the same boat as everyone else I informed BG that I will not be sending them any videos or pics. I will also not be sending them the light back as there is no reason to do this. If the lights are defective (and they are) BG will not resell them they are simply using this tactic in attempt to avoid refunding money. I ask them to simply give me store credit as they are lying about the flashlight in question.

what do other members think.

My guess is that a BLF boycott will have little effect on BG or any of the vendors most of us frequent since we comprise a very small portion of their sales. As I said that’s just a guess on my part.

Sorry,
just saw this thread.
we are talking with manker and Cyberscudo, we will find a best solution for you.

Wow banggood finally shows up. So banggood why are you making this so hard for everyone? Why can’t you do the right thing?

I received one, haven’t even put a cell in it after reading about some of the issues. I’m not prepared to open up and solder etc. Have been hoping there would be some kind of group refund as I had enough grief with BG when they sent flat top instead of button top cells in a previous GB. So should I go straight to PP?

Hello Banggood,
Order Number: 14073728
I’m an owner, but I too feel deceived. I’m not happy bout the deception. the light that was sent as a sample is different from the one produced and sold. The Cometa sold are cheaper, dangerous and underperforming. Complete disaster, either happened or waiting to happen. I haven’t attempted to contact PayPal about it. If something simple was done for compensation. Please give me full refund! Thanks in advance!

edit: Sent PM too…

PM sent

I also received the Cometa I ordered but haven’t even put a cell in it after reading about the issues since people started receiving them. I don’t have the modding tools and skills so I just left it unopened in its little box. I will wait and see how Banggood will help us with the Cometa. I buy frequently from their website and generally have had positive experience with them so far.

I received a full refund from my paypal dispute…. PayPal did not ask me for any additional information…. I think that there have been enough problems with similar transactions that payPal knows this issue inside and out.

This was my last transaction with bang good.

If you have not done so, I encourage you to file a paypal dispute… You will get a full refund.

Budda, I'm not clear on this. You say in the OP the sample received was a Z1, but in post #582 of the Cometa group buy here: https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/37235/577, it clearly shows a Manker Cometa was received as a final sample, posted April 6th. Those pictures in post #582 match my Manker Cometa exactly - the styling changes, the threads, those unique differences between a Z1 and Cometa are evident.

Cyberescudo calls it a final sample and it has all the Cometa engravings as well. Now I can understand the subtle issues were not noticed, no one else apparently noticed it as well. The performance differences of course would have been measured, and if Cyberescudo didn't have the equipment, be never would have known. Also it could be this "final sample" was a pristine, hand chosen unit, or at least, carefully assembled and built, as opposed to what happened in mass production.

But clearly, he describes the pill change to accomodate a 17 mm driver, as opposed to the 20 mm driver originally spec'd, so that part of it should have been expected.

Yeah, but that description of the “final sample” also says:

That may have been true of the final sample, but it doesn’t describe the flashlights actually delivered, and it’s not a subtle rattle.

i got mine quiet early before any big issues happened i put in an 18650 flat top with the adapter i saw the tail light came on then try to turn it on but it never turned on just got hot both springs collapsed i informed banggood they sent me new front and back end i made the then recommended plastic washers and i put a 26650 in as i thought the 18650 adapter was to lose, but the exact same thing happened with a bit more delay the light was on for a few seconds.

now i think also its not good to use this light i am waiting here for a solution if nothing come the pp refund is the last option

I’ll risk getting a “rude point” by simply stating that the best solution for us is to get our $40 back without having to jump through hoops or having it cost us big money to ship it back.
