Please help with tints.

I’ve got a u3 1c in my m10 thinking about it so you can check them both out….

What do you think of it Gords?

Marc.

Thanks for your input Alex, and everyone else, very helpful. It’s what makes this place so good!

it served its purpose, I was chasing the lumen, I tend to go to other lights for more frequent use to be honest, I built my m10 and a nw xp-g 4c in the same week, that really spoiled the m10 for me as I much preferred the “much lower output but more pleasing tint” it really underlined it for me, high output is fun, but I do like to use my lights, rather than them sitting on the shelf, so now almost all of my builds focus around a nw emitter.

I am trying different tints, I have a very very white tint xm-l in my work c8, I’d have to look up the bin, but its not off putting. That said I much prefer the more creamy nw tints myself. As I say you could always pop across one night and try a few different ones indoors and out before you buy if you wished, then you’d know what you prefer before you buy, I do have a nw xm-l2 driven by the same driver as the u3 1c in the same size reflector, might give you a good back to back comparison.

I no longer like cool whites at all. They are just too blue for me and wash out any colors.

I started with neutrals with a 3c and thought that was nice but even now it looks a little green. I recently ordered some neutral XPG-2s but in 3d hoping it will be less green.

I’ve also ordered some 4500k and 4000k XML-2 from mouser and hope those are less “cool”. Don’t know the exact tints though.

In the end, the nichia is one of the best LEDs in terms of colors because it is high CRI. Also it is around the 4000k-4500k range I believe with a rosier (not green) tint. It just isn’t as bright in terms of lumens/watt.

May well do that, i’ll have to sort out a time. Got a new baby right now and my eldest has Chickenpox so won’t be visiting until I know it’s cleared. Don’t want to be giving you clan the Pox!

no, we’ve got a red cross on the door too tbh, if you’ve got a baby, definitely get the qlite driver an a nw in one of your lights, the soft light is perfect for not disturbing a sleeping partner or child.
