Just remembering now that the cop initially wanted a RGBW light. I did not like the driver selection for the the XML RGBW (mainly because lack of memory) so I talked him out of that. He said then that he wanted blue.

I would be happy to build him a RGBW light though if there was a driver which had memory.

Cereal_killer had started a business exactly making that: RGBW-lights for law enforcement officers. He made his own RGBW drivers that have a great user interface. It's just that he has not been around BLF for quite some time (he has a habit in disappearing..) You could try a PM.

Blue light hazard

High power blue would not safe to use to “dazzle” anyone. He would leave himself and his department open to problems, even lawsuits.

White is good enough, no need to go blue. Seriously, I’d reconsider building this for him. There is little good reason to use a high power blue light and it will be dangerous to the eyes. Even if not used to dazzle.

you think the cop cares? it is not his eyes that get damaged.

Exactly. Which is why some responsibility has to fall on the builder.

And actually his eyes can receive damage as well. When shining the light on a scene, say “tracking blood”, a lot of strong blue light still reaches his eyes from the scene. Damage is cumulative, smaller amounts will add up.
