Posting after taking sleeping medication

It’s a hypnotic. It’s prescribed here as Zopiclone and I had the same effects as you. Basically it puts you in a sleepy but hypnotic state, so if you’re not actually asleep you are in a state of hypnosis, hence doing things you’re unaware of. I’ve also been prescribed amitriptyline, but it has a long half life and left me feeling half asleep and fatigued through the next day. I didn’t get on with either of them. My wife had a hard time persuading me the spare bedroom wasn’t the bathroom one night and trying to stop me peeing in the laundry basket. :person_facepalming:

If I’ve had two or three nights of no sleep or a waking kind of anxious sleep I take an over the counter sleep aid, diphenhydramine. It’s an anti histamine that causes drowsiness. Having read the thread I think I’ll try melatonin for the rare occasions I need something. It’s often an anxiety thing, a fear of not being able to go to sleep, creating a vicious circle of worrying about not getting enough and clock watching during the night. Best of luck, insomnia is a pain in the backside.

we had a set of crying twins and that was rough on getting any sleep. You might try something that worked for me: Take 2 foam earplugs and squeeze them into your ear holes.

No advice, just sympathy. I’ve been through it. On the far side of it at the moment and it was always tied to heavy stuff going on (death in the family etc.) I needed the sleep so I medicated. The wife told me I was sleepwalking but I was just stoned on whatever drug was supposed to have me asleep. I had a scare a few years ago. A guy in my neighborhood was run down with a car like mine. I was afraid it might have been me but I couldn’t remember. I got a hold of cam pix of the incident and saw that it clearly wasn’t my car and the person driving was twice my size. I was relieved but concerned because I knew it was possible. I don’t touch anything like that anymore. Be careful, if you can’t live without the meds give your wife the keys, lock up the guns etc. before bed.

I remember seeing a TV spot years ago that had a story about Ambien.
It recounted - accounts of Sleep Eating.
People getting up, raiding the Fridg, and not remembering anything.
They or their house mates setup kid-cams to catch action.

I can believe Sleep Posting could be a thing.
I’m going to claim it next time I act like a jerk in a thread.

I took Ambien for a while. Worked like a champ.
I did have bouts of sleep reading.
I’d take a pill, then read.
Next nigh I’d pick up the book and wonder how the heck I got where I was.
Didn’t remember reading most of the stuff from the previous night.

The good part, I didn’t go through books as fast!
All the Best,
Jeff

Your drug is called Zaleplon. Commonly known as Sonata.

Certainly sounds like you need to change your medication. See you doctor. None of us on are are qualified. We can share our experience.

Years ago I got my Mom off of Ambien. a nasty drug with many side effects, especially memory loss.

I have had sleep issues for 25 plus years[60 now]. I do not like drugs/taking sleep medicine. But I have found one that works for me[that is the key, we are all different] that I take sporadically and it has very little side effects on me. It is called Temazepam.

Good luck

I avoid prescription medication. A pill may put you ‘out cold’ but it is not sleep.

No, soporifics are exactly that - pills that help you get to sleep (or make not falling asleep basically impossible depending on dosage and strength). Not all of them are prescription/controlled either.
