Q8, PMS SEND TO THOSE WITH ISSUES BLF soda can light

AGREED. :+1:

My guess is they will be printing the manual at the same time they are building the lights so I donā€™t see how a manual will extend the delivery time.

Yes. This. Also, Tom E is the one who wrote the firmware. And it is very popular with users on this site. Why shouldnā€™t the person(s) most familiar with the firmware (at least help) write the manual?

I agree, and think we should have the manual.

Agreed. There will be enough confused people if the manual is included.

If there is no manual the confusion factor will soar.

And I agree that all the answers are in the thread & can be found on the internet.
BUTā€¦ā€¦. many people will not even read post 1 in this thread for answers thus far.
It wonā€™t get any better if there were no manual includedā€¦ā€¦ :person_facepalming: ā€¦

Tomā€™s idea of included the folded up manual inside the tail cap is really cool, but to be honest it has such small print on it there may be issue reading it. I do like a light to come with a user manual, especially one as potentially complicated as this one, so overall Iā€™m very much in favor of including the manual, just donā€™t know if the small folding version is critical. A booklet might be better, to be more legible.

FWIW, this small folded one is about the size of a US quarter folded up, albeit slightly thicker.

That sounds maybe too small to be useful? I like the booklet idea.

Well Joechina gave us the foldable cheat sheet
And no it will not delay, both cheat sheet and manual have shortened links to the important Info
It just adds to a professional feel and there is plenty of space in the box for it

Oh yeah, totally agree. The little foldup is a great idea, but people can do this on their own really, it seems.

A manual, or pages even; with type large enough to be easily read seems like an almost necessity with this lightā€¦. to me anyway.

Print large enough that both warnings & instructions are clearly visable.

Edit: Ohā€¦ manual & cheat sheetā€¦ā€¦ fantastic. :+1:

So, are we almost at the finish line then?
Or is that just a tickle to optimistic?

We expect a video of the tests any moment now, it depends on those

Well, I think itā€™s a bit tricky to fit the first post on a small pice of paper like that one here: http://bit.ly/narsil-cs

And then you can do this:

(Thanks djozz for the Video)

Joechina

Well I think it is awesome to have a little manual inside the Q8!
Thanks joechina!

The idea was you can have a small manual with you when you are on a camping tripp.
And yes, it is packed and has a tiny font.
If you want a bigger version you can print it in double size and store it somewhere in your work shop.

So we need bigger lights which can store booklets?

EDIT:
And the cheat sheet works quit good on a 5 inch smart phone in the PDF-Reader

Very nice joechina! :+1: ā€¦ Thank youā€¦ā€¦

I wonder how big the tiny manual would be if it were translated into German. Those folks have some mighty long words.

A manual is very useful for navigating Narsilā€™s config mode. There are lots of options in there.

People have asked about a UI diagram, but there are two different UIs and they have enough options to make a diagram a little tricky. So I suggest keeping the manual handy when configuring options, and otherwise just using the UI enough to make it second-nature.

Not that people need to configure itā€¦ the defaults are good, and the UIs themselves are pretty straightforward; itā€™s mostly just that there are a lot of configurable bits.

I hope there is a reset to default too, i remember years ago messing around in regedit in windows, i got pretty good at reinstalling windows back then.

The BLF defaults are always well thought out IMHO. sparkyDK does have a valid point ā€œI hope there is a reset to default too.ā€
