Quick follow up: one of my orders showed up today in a brown, unpadded envelope that was supposed to contain two knives but didn't. Instead all I got was one knife and a printed invoice with $10 S&H (not sure what's up with that because I didn't pay a cent for shipping but it's probably something you want to keep in mind if customs cares about this sort of stuff in your country).
So I figured they had split the order and went back to re-checked my shipping notification and their website, and, nope, nothing. After emailing their support, I received a reply within a couple of hours and apparently they did split the order, sent the second knife out the same day as the first (huh?) and offered a full refund if it doesn't turn up within a week, which I thought was pretty good.
Well, after filing a Paypal dispute BestOfferBuy finally decided to actually stop stalling me... I did get a full refund. Now I need to find another place that carries the E07s cheap that's relatively reliable.
This probably isn't going to matter much unless you need to watch the total value of your orders for customs purposes but I think I managed to figure out why there's something showing up on the invoice under "Shipping & Handling", even though shipping is free. Apparently, it's a bug. If you use a coupon code of any kind, it'll show up there. This does not appear to affect billing but if you order $20 worth of stuff and use a $10 off coupon code, your invoice will show $30. And since there's a printed invoice inside every envelope they send out, you'll probably have to explain that one to a customs official who couldn't care less.
Edit: Just noticed that they overdeclared: real value of my order was $8 but the customs form says $15.
They wrote me a few months after my purchase and asked me if I'd go and give them a feedback on rersellers ratings ..Which was no problem for me because for me they shipped fast and my item was a nice one ..a solarforce one of my first lights and compared to every other chinese wholesaler they were 1000 times better shipped fast and was packaged well .. so them giving me a 10$ off my next purchgase was super cool with me ...Maybe they saw my IP on their site because I looked at every stinking light they had ..A super heroic feat that took days ..i was young ..what did I know ..it was like flashlight porn ... I still like them they did me right , they have my business..they earned it .
I hate to reply to myself but since I was talking about my (previous) positive experiences with BoB, I thought I should probably add how the whole thing turned out. A CS rep eventually admitted that the knife they said they sent, was out of stock the whole time. When I pressed them, they admitted that they'd never sent the knife out in the first place. So, I guess, basically, the figured they'd try to get away with stiffing me. Needless to say, I was less than happy and demanded my money back. I eventually received a partial refund (minus the value of a coupon). I can be incredibly stubborn and normally, I'd have half a mind to file a PP complaint, even though we're talking about a buck and some change but, frankly, I'm too busy to care at the moment.
Maybe this was just an oversight. Maybe a CS rep screwed up. I don't know but the whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth and I don't think I'll be ordering from them again. There are plenty alternatives for the stuff I regularly order anyway and I'd rather give my business to someone who tries to provide a good shopping experience.
3-star rating for my recent order of a Tank007 TK-737 5-mode. Customer service was pretty good, prompt responses. Took 5 days to ship out of their warehouse, longer delay than I hoped for. And the actual shipping time via HK Post took an eternity, much longer than usual even for China. But the product description was accurate and the price was great.
I have used bestofferbuy before, and didn't have any issues with them. Some of the prices were better than other China/HK gadget dealers, some not so good, so it pays to shop around.
Delivery time was typically slow.
While I have not personally had any issues with them, equally I couldn't see any great advantage to using them, unless picking an item that was on sale or unavailable elsewhere. Otherwise, I'd be just as likely to purchase from DX or KD.
Made my first order with bestofferbuy.com several days ago and received the first time buyers discount for a small flashlight I wanted. Within 24 hours of placing the order, they emailed stating this particular light was no longer available, but did offer something similar or I could have a refund. I didn’t want the light they suggested to me, and requested a full refund to my paypal account, and did receive the credit back into my account within several hours.
