Replacement 14500 battery for Olight S15R

After all I went for the Nicjoy!
Thank you Barkuti for answering all my littles concerns.

And thank you all for your help!

I know this is a little late but I recently decided to pull the protection “cap” off the Olight 14500 and the cell really woke up and hangs with my IMR Nitecore 14500’s.

It’s super easy to do, just slice around the bottom of the cap on the + end, peel off the top wrap, get a pliers and rip off the cap. That’s it. Everything is contained inside the cap and you are left with an unprotected 14500 that still has the Olight wrap on it.

Tailcap readings from my BLF X5 were as follows.

Olight 14500 - With Protection circuitry: 2.4 amps
Olight 14500 - Without Protection circuitry: 3.2 amps
Nitecore IMR 14500: 2.9 amps

At $4-$5 per cell, not bad once you pull off the protection!

I’ll post pics as soon as I get them hosted. :person_facepalming:

Lots of talk about nicjoy here but the cell sort of falls on it’s face at 2 amps . that kind of goes against reasons for running a 14500.
I bought a few before noticing HKJ says in his review that they aren’t a good cell for lights pulling more than 2 amps . so for a fet driver i’m guessing you’ll want an LMR
