bad news :( It must have simply been an illusion. I brought the light out to my cabin on the weekend to find that yes, its very bright, however when turning on my skyray sr5, it is still only slightly brighter. not a big difference. I just got home and measured at the tailcap. 1.02A on high on fully charged 18650 :( apparently the 'good' ones were pulling over 2A.
well. I guess i took a risk, but its safe to say this lousy driver has been put into all of these lights, no matter what the branding is on the light.
can anyone suggest a light thats going to be brighter and throw farther than my aurora ak-p7 2 mode and m skyray sr5. im having a hard time finding a light more impressive than my $20 skyray. the aurora is BRIGHT but all flood.
is there a tried and tested driver for this particular application? i am pretty new to this stuff, but open to toying with it! how complicated would it be to take on the task? where could i find a driver?
There's two places to solder wires to (+/- to leds, which are likely wired in series). Take off wires from old one (on the led's side), stick on new one :). If you figure out how to use the iron, the rest should be obvious.
The main concern is that the size is correct for your light. Those circles on the back are +/- for the battery. If it's not the right size (that one is 26mm), it may get complicated since the driver pcb depends on mechanical contact to the batteries. If it's the right size (and there's likelyhood it is), buy it and you will figure it out pretty easy.
is the same I have got with my Smallsun 1200L. That is far avay from 1200 lm. I have got a 5xR2 dropin from DX, that's much brighter than the original. Sadly, on the specimen I have got the driver board got fried. I'm wating for the replacement.
