It’s a backup to the Aleto because of beam profile or run time then?
The Aleto 26650 is a light which could take the place of a canister light (on shorter duration tech. dives).
Because (1) with *quality 26650 cells it has longer runtimes than the DIV05. *(e.g. KingKong cell)
(2) The hotspot is nice... being very defined, filled, and bright. This gives good range to see ahead.
On the other hand the DIV05 doesn't have quite the intense hotspot, even though they are both driving a Cree XM-L at about the same amperage. I consider this more of a "backup light" when technical diving. A backup to my canister light or sometimes the Aleto. But I've used the DIV05 by itself on recreational dives too.
These are just personnel judgements of course. See post #3 for more comparisons.
BTW both of these lights are brighter than 90% of single emitter dive lights. I don't think people realize this. If anyone knows of a brighter dive light than I want to know (excluding the other Brinyte dive lights - DIV01, DIV03, etc.).
Even though there are a few brighter ones (maybe)... the ones I like to review here are budget lights and would be considerably less expensive then say the Mb-sub Photon (which is large & $$$) or Seac R6 ($$) or Bigblue TL1800 or Keldan Luna 4 (
)
or compared to economical but big: Maxtoch D16X-2 (but large) or Keygos KE-8 (large) or UltraFire CR-7 (crenelated bezel? & large)
I got another DIV05... came from Aliexpress. It is a little different from my first one in the following ways...
1. has the Brinyte Logo laser engraved.
2. the tailcap doesn't have the shroud around the bolt snap attachment point like the DIV03 (below) or my original DIV05.
3. The tailcap doesn't unscrew... this is a good fix.
4. It is easier to twist on.
I think this is a must have dive light. Very nice. 
As you can see the anodization is different between the two lights. I prefer the more glossy DIV03, but it's also more slick/slippery.
I wish I knew which finish was more resilient.

Though it doesn't look like it in the first pic... in actual use I see more of a CW (cool white) tint with the DIV05. It has more bluish tinge around the edges.
Just a quick message to say that I received the Securitylng version of this light and it looks and works just like the Brinyte DIV05.
It is laser engraved "Securitylng" on one side, but the other is blank. Securitylng (via eBay seller) told me they manufacture this light themselves. But Brinyte says that Security is their customer - which I tend to believe.
I brought it via Amazon Prime (link).
Payed about $5-$8 more from Amazon vs. AliExpress. But it seems like it was delivered at my door in one day through Amazon Prime.

Well I came back from a cave diving trip in North Florida. BTW that's the place to go when it's winter. 
I was using both of the dive lights above as backups. They were mounted on my shoulder straps.
At one point I was 1500+ feet penetration in the cave on a solo dive. The only light you have is what you bring. During a dive my primary went out, so I switched to the backup. Worked like normal.
when I'm in tight cave passages... scraping against the rock to get through, it's nice to have a solid light. There's no switches to break... in case I rub hard against rock or just gear getting banged around.
My improvement wish list > (1) change LED to a neutral white tint - I see some bluish tinge.
and (2) the anodizing could be better - I think the DIV03 has a better/tougher finish (see the review from: _the_)

Overall, I'm very happy about using this for technical diving applications.
Can these be taken apart easily to mod - driver and LED swap? With this being a twisty, is there a special “twisty specific” driver needed or can I use a run of the mill “clicky” driver (ie. Nanj based 3-mode, 2.8A)?
It would be hard to get the bezel off the DIV05. I think they are glued on.
But Packhorse got a bezel off from one (CPF post). I guess the Brinyte folks failed to glue it on.
A option to try... The flashlight is placed in a vice with protection so as to not scratch it. Next the bezel is heated with a blow torch, then use a strap wrench to unscrew bezel. Strap wrench should have a descent length handle for more torque.
On a DIV01 I tried to remove the bezel with a torch and strap wretches. Didn't work for me. But vestureofblood got it off using the same method with better equipment.
Yes these use regular drivers, like this (single mode Nanjg 105C) or you could use 2 mode (mtn).
The stock driver pulls close to 2.8A.
The magnetic switch lights are the difficult drivers to substitute. They use hall sensors on the driver with a magnetic inside the switch (control ring) to change modes, so you can't really replace them.
This DIV05 light seems to be the same light as the DGX 600 on Dive gear express (https://www.divegearexpress.com/lights/backuplt.shtml).
Does anyone know how it would compare to the Dive Rite BX-1, which is also listed on this page? My guess is it would be pretty similar.
The nice thing is they come with a li-ion 18650 battery and charger as well.
No experience with the linked light, but they look exactly the same. Would not surprise me if Yeguang make the light under both names. Brinyte is a bit cheaper to buy than the ones you linked though.
Id want to know more about the 18650 before Id consider using it, and same goes for the charger.
I had to look up the name of the company that made them, which led me to the full list linked in the OP, and I found the DIV05V, which appears to be a zoomie maybe.
compared to the 05
The “v” series of lights eg div05v div08v div10v etc are all for photography/video as they use a wide beam angle rather than the normal 5-15 degree of the non v lights.
In the case of the div05 the beam angle is 9 degrees and for the div05v its 120 degrees.
I have been using the div05 for about 1 year and its been good but watch for water ingress as I have found corrosion on the top ring of the body.
I assume its when it from moving the light head underwater.
I just turn it on then turn it so it just off then I find somewhere below 20 meters it turns itself on and then I just unscrew till its off again but don’t always remember to tighten it on accent every time, as its just one of my backup lights.
So its a non zooming already fully zoomed non zoomie?
It’s a mule design. No reflector, with the LED placed as closely to the front lens as much as possible. For a video light, I’m surprised all the “v” models are cool whites with no option to get neutral or warm white.

I bought the div05 because of these posts and i am realy happy with the light. Unfortunately I also got a version which was hard to twist, as the 18650 just didnt make contact. I inserted a small ring of aluminium foil into the light head (over the negative poles) and now it works fine and is realy easy to twist on.
