KCD: No idea. I'd say around, if not more, than a decent HD2010
Feel: Good. Very good. Nice satin ano finish. Easy to grip. Feels like it could be a bat used in some sport.
Shorty: Not regulated like long mode (only in high). You can see from my runtime graphs that it's pretty much direct drive minus the voltage drop due to buck regulation.
Looks like an L2 to me, definitely wrong description.
A little pricey, though - there’s a clone kicking around for less than that. I’m pretty sure someone picked it up for less than $40 with a coupon a while back.
Has anyone got update on the availability of Convoy L2? Or found a good replacement?
I too am looking for the Convoy L2 host to build my own MT-G2.
I see this link to Convoy L2 http://www.gearbest.com/led-flashlights/pp_44173.html gping for $49
It shows (hopefully) correct pictures and wrong description. But it could be vice versa since phantom23 reported this error 3 months ago.
Do you want flood or throw beam? The Yezl Y3 can take the MTG2 with very little mods and no driver swap, running with 2 cells. It’s throwy beam though.
I don’t know about the other hosts but just be aware that the lens shape can really kill the flood on the MTG2.
Other forums report that the torch has a plastic reflector but on aliexpress it says it is aluminium but only 30mm: And it uses 26650 battery where I have tons of 18650
Because the Convoy L2 in DYI would add up to $70 I did not want to accept a compromise. If the Convoy is gone, I am looking for even or better replacement As for the driver I wanted to add 8 more 7135 to Nanjg 105c.
Convoy L2 with a different name stuck on the side: http://www.banggood.com/Dipper-D19-Cree-XML2-U21A-5Mode-1000-Lumens-26650-LED-Flashlight-p-932178.html
@phantom23
I chatted with the guys from gearbest.com regarding the item http://www.gearbest.com/led-flashlights/pp_44173.html and asked them if the product picture or the product description is right or wrong. Their answer was, that both the picture and the description were correct. I think not to try to order a what seems to be a Convoy C8 (and fail).
@comfychair
Do you own this clone? How about the quality?
The lights are made by the same people in the same factory as the ones that get the 'Convoy' name stuck on the side. Same as the X-Power/Xiaomi (whatever)/OEM D4/D3 lights... same bodies, same machining, but built for different resellers who may give their own specs for the internal parts to be used.
THERE IS NO 'CONVOY' FACTORY. They are generic OEM lights with the Convoy label applied.
