Review: TrustFire Z8 - XM-L Flood-to-Throw

I have the SK68, the RC-29, and the ZY-C10-S. For pure throw ability the ZY-C10 is untouchable but for all around use and quality, nothing touches The Z8 and none of the others I have even come close.

Hehe then i must have this light :d well it has been half a year since i bought a new light so :stuck_out_tongue:

Half a year??? :open_mouth:

>>>>>Do you have any other zoomlights and do you consider this the best one?

I have the z8. I am sure that there are other 14500 t6 zoomers out there, but I haven’t seen any budget-priced similarly sized ones. The Sipik 18650 sk98 and ultrafire copy are bigger, as is the pretty miserable Sacredfire 18650 nf-918 (horrible beam and dim dim dim output — two thumbs down). There is also an ultrafire bronze color without a number which is also bigger and uses a 18650.

If there are smaller and better lights based on a t6 and a 14500 battery, I’d like to know also.

But for now, the z8 seems the one to beat.

There are these two — as has been pointed out — on manafont and probably elsewhere:

And one using TWO 16340s:

I have both on the way for two weeks so hopefully I’ll be comparing em all soon!

But I don’t see how you can go wrong with the z8. Great little light! Will it become the next sipik 68 as a must-have for all flashaholics? Hard to say.

But are there better zoomers using the t6 emitter and an 18650 battery? Yup. Even my no-name tulip-shaped 1 18650 outzooms and out-floods the z8. But the big plus for the z8 is its tiny size. For that reason, comparing the z8 with gi-normous 2x18650s is like comparing apples and rudebegas.

Yes i know last light i bought was a 150$ ‘ebay’ HID flashlight. I did order a 2xLED piggy light 2 months ago but i don’t consider that a light and 2 weeks ago i bought a 4300k 85W HID bulb so not a light either. As a student still living with his parents i try to be reasonable in my spendings although my parents do not mind my ‘crazy’ hobby .

As long as it is better than the sk68 it’s ok for me. Went to the beach this week and i could ‘light up’ an entire building about 50m wide from 200m away with a light (sipik) only a finger big so :d. Only minor thing i might feel about z8 is the screwing zoom mechanism, i think it’s less user friendly to zoom in and out, but i do not own zoom lights with this kind of mechanism.

Yubetcha, bubba. I'll let you know next week. 8)

I don’t think it is “better” than the 68. The 68 is a venerable instituition like the declaration of independence or the Mona Lisa. It’s not so much that it is “better,” but different. Biggest diff of course is the much bigger (and brighter) t6 emitter.

The sk98 could be the heir apparent to the sk68 throne, although it still needs a little work before a formal ascension.

But the z8 is brighter (and heavier) than the 68, that’s for sure. I find myself reaching for the z8 more than the 68. See if I’m still reaching for it in 4 weeks.

It’s not just the T6 that makes the Z8 better. The lens design is far superior in beam quality than the SK68 as well as waterproofing, build quality, etc… Just because Chevy is an institution doesn’t mean there aren’t better cars available.

U R kayrect!

But I’m not ready to throw out my 68 yet …. actually an ultarok 68 clone that doesn’t get hot and is brighter than the venerable 68 sipik.

I should write up a little something about the ultaok 68. Better mousetrap. Just need to find the time. :–0

Thanks for the great review JohnnyMac. I just ordered one. My first XM-L zoomie.

:cowboy_hat_face:

You’re welcome, bud! It’s my first XM-L zoomer too and I don’t think it will be my last. I really want to get a Uniquefire F12A and compare the two. The designs look to be nearly the same except construction material and tailcap design.

Yep. That great review sold me also. Ordered mine yesterday. It’s My first xml zoomie too. I have a sipik clone but it is pretty under powered even with a 14500.

I want to know who will be the first to bake one... ?

I'm in ....

+1 you couldn’t have said it any better!!!

Nice review and nice light. I hope we start to see more lights like this.

My Z8 arrived today, 7 days order to door so I'm very happy - third flawless order through TMart US warehouse. This is a beauty! Fit and finish is flawless, looks fantastic, very heavy and solid for such a little light. JMac, the slide mechanism on mine works fine, no binding at all, just a nice solid action. It is extremely bright, can't wait to try it out tonight against Sipik and all my other zoomies, but I can tell this is going to blow them all away. Test with the batteries I have:

AW IMR 14500 - Sweet
UF Grey 14500 - Yes
Coppertop AA - NO
eneloop 1900 mAh - NO
Powerex 2700mAh - NO

Sorry, scaru: Turns out I don't have an Energizer Lithium AA, all I have are AAA size and I don't really need any so I'm not going to buy them. Tongue Out I think JohnnyMac is correct though: Only 14500 Li-Ion for this puppy.

Thanks again for the lead, Johnny! Very pleased with your last 3 suggestions.

That’s great to hear! So glad yours arrived in as good, or better, shape than mine did. Now I want one with a smoother Zoom action like yours. It’s great that they are not all like mine is. Let us know how it does tonight after you’ve played with it (the light that is ).

OK, I'll check out the light... after I'm done playing with it. >)

I have just found it the cheapest I’ve sern at priceangels, in case it helps: TOTO88 | Bocoran Slot Gacor Hari Ini
