Saik SA-305 with 3 Cree XML U2

The schematic is OK! Thank you! The reflectors are from Dealextreme http://www.dealextreme.com/p/18mm-12mm-aluminum-textured-op-reflector-for-cree-led-emitters-4-pack-14598

The stars are 14,2 mm from Kaidomain http://www.kaidomain.com/product/details.S009892

The heatsink was from an aluminium rod with 32mm, glued with artic silver Epoxy, before glue

i filled the hole in the pill with a copper plate!

The battery was also from Kaidomain, a 32600 with 5000 mAh, but it is there sold out at the moment!

I found it also at bestofferbuy http://www.bestofferbuy.com/32600-37v-5000mah-d-liion-cell-p-14496.html

Hope they will available, because i need also a second one, for spare!

It does look a bit rough on the inside, but when it's assembled turns into something truly awesome.

How long did it take you to make?

@ daysoft - welcome to the forum, that's a really cool mod, well done for thinking out of the box and coming up with a new idea. You're mod has gien me some ideas for this little beast of a torch.

i think this torch would work well built in a similar way but with lower current LEDs running of the 3AAs?

Btw Essexman, if you are the same username on DX you can't use a single C cell in the light unless it's a 3.7v li-ion cell as it doesn't use a boost driver. You may well know that already but I wouldn't want you buying it for that purpose before finding out for yourself.

It is a few months ago, when i made it, but i know it was the longest time i spend to mod a light.

About 6- 8 working hours i think, and before a lot of time of thinking about, how to built best!

I built the same torch with one xml and three Sanyo Eneloop XX for a friend.

With the normal Batteryholder was the current at the tailcap to low, after mod it with copper sheet and better springs the current went up to 2,6 Amp. ( Enough to drive the xml almost to full output ) The original refector had an good throw.

May be i built a second one ( i had one SAIK in spare ) because normal AA batteries are useful in Europe, where

Lithium batteries not often sold!

Yep that's me. Hiya Redforest.

Yes i was thinking of std C with a boost driver. like a big 1AA light, nice long runtime at low current.

I've got one of these already, but the wife has nicked it, so I need another no mod.
