Scaru's Extremely Detailed Guide on Adding Pictures

1. Because I felt like doing a new thread, I mean what's wrong with that?

2. You do the exact same thing it says, I have done this on: Ubuntu 12.04, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Chrome OS, and a Mac (forget which version).

3. Yes, if you are going to use the same images in multiple places over a longer period of time that might be a good idea; if you would like I could create a guide on how to create an account on photobucket. :P

As for mobile phone users, I know Gords is always on a phone and Nightcrawl always asks that people resize to 100% so I'm guessing he is too, I am a decent amount of the time (reading mostly since I hate typing on my iphone), and I'm sure there are many others.

1) unnecessary job having two well explained tuts already, scaru. You could add only that tinypic related stuff to one of them.
2) I meant these two images

they are only Ubuntu related. I would skip this before someone will ask you why his are not like yours

3) very easy stuff, for sure, but agreed, very useful and free  Don’t know if someone will have probs creating a new account though, but yeah, of course you can do it. I think if we just mention that (and put it in bold) will be more than enough.

Well, I’ve created new poll in a blink of an eye. Wondering how many users are using phones or other mobile gadgets  So we can adapt most of the images to that res, don’t you think?

First of all, yes that specifically is; but almost all computers are the same. If you don't believe me I will take screenshots of that stage from a couple different operating systems.

And yes, I also created a poll. And since it seems 75% of BLF uses a mobile phone to browse BLF at lease some of the time, I think it is only considerate to set it to 100%.

Nope, I’d only considerate small, pre-resized images. Mobile phones are slower than PCs and smaller images will suck less 3G bandwidth (i.e. like turboBB reviews). From now on, I will not post any images bigger than 640x480, will be much easier and faster for you (other mobile users). Don’t tell me that res is too big

Pics make every post about flashlights better!!!

But, hey Scaru how is the uploading of a sig done for this forum? Tried the “direct link” and “forum” codes, as well as the “Insert Image” code Without any luck. Thx

It works exactly as any other post. Just insert the image properly.

How do you do a mouse over?

In the advanced tab check the box that says "Alternative Image" and then paste the two different URLs into the appropriate spots.

I browse on a mobile quite a bit and I have no problem with using 50% for pictures. I always try to include the image link so it can be clicked for the full image.
Using 100% all the time does make some images look nasty on a PC screen. Something from 50% to 100% is good, but avoid absolute or blank size, as it can overflow on smaller screens making it harder to peruse.
I wonder if the forum could be changed to allow the user override the size attribute to the value you select. Every image would be the exact size you want it to be. This sounds like too much work though… just thinking out loud I guess.

i tried a few websites, but the "direct link" did not work.

i'm now using photobucket.com.

after clicking "share to other services", i get the picture direct link.

This is a Test Pic:

This was inserted as 40% and under "Alignment", I chose "text bottom"
