Sorry to bring up this old thread, but I’m curious about if anyone here carries a 18350 flashlight in the keychain and how does it work out for you.
I’m interested in the new amutorch E3S which is probably the shortest 18350 triple out there, but now I’m not sure if to get it or save some money and convert my FW3A into the shorty which will cost me $13 with shipping. Ideally it would be the D4V2 or KR4 because of the fancy aux leds but i don’t how how bulky/heavy would that be on a keychain.
I don’t want to get a 16340 light because I am already carrying a Jetbeam mkii modded with a FET driver. Beam is pretty amazing but the short runtime has failed me on several occasions.
Any input is appreciated.

BTW, in case you prefer longer runtimes, you can get a light that takes 14500 and get some Vapcell or Shockli cells that are above 1000mAh. (more than the 800mAh that the best 16340 has). :+1:

Added a few options for small and light 18350 lights in the chart (in the first post).
Let me know if there are some other new lights I should add.
Let me know if you have any of the missing data points (indicated with question marks)
(or any of the data points for 18650 lights with 18350 tubes, I could not find weights with 18350 tubes often so I included weights with 18650 tube)

Given that the DQG Tiny flashlight is ~87mm long the usefulness of some of the longer 18350 lights is debatable.
Thrunite T1 is a pretty small 18350 light.
69.5 mm long and 26.5 mm at the head.
It’s very lightweight and has a built in charger.
I would love to see an 18350 light similar to the Fenix E16 or Olight S1 Mini. It doesn’t need any more output than either of those two. Just a slight size increase to allow the use of a more potent battery than a 16340.

Ah, I got as far as Astrolux but I do like my short S2
Actually, with a S2+ shorty, if you swap the reflector for a 20mm TIR lens, possibly have to shorten the springs (easy to replace the spring on the driver with a brass nipple, though), you can even stuff in an 18500 for a bit more runtime.

I did a mod like that many years ago.
Took a Convoy S2+ with 18350 tube:
Filed off the rim around the top of the pill and the top half of the pill threads.
filled off the bottom of the pill to make the pill shorter.
Installed a 20mm triple star and Carclo optic, plus new driver.
The new light fit 18500 and was a triple. It worked well and looked good.
Yeh, I never got around to doing that with a triple. Could forego using the usual spacer, in fact.

The Amutorch E3S is designed for 20350 cells but will take 18350 so it can go on list.
Although a little fatty, it stands at only 58.8mm.
Here it is surrounded by shorty FW3A (w/18350) and a small 16340 light Klarus Mi1C for comparison.

It’s a 16340 but the Trustfire MC1 is pretty small. Its my edc frequently. I just throw it in my pocket and don’t even notice it.
56x20mm
45g w/ battery
1000 lumens
Also takes cr123s
$40
imo, “smallest” = lowest weight
therefore, the winnner of Smallest 18350 is:
Lumintop OD10
27g in weight

that is even Lighter than my Ti S Mini that weights 28.5 grams(without clip)… and the TiS Mini is not even 18350 able…
