Solarforce XM-L drop-in; is this typical?

The quality issues with that drop-in is a joke but even if it were assmbled right, I don't care for Solarforce drop-ins.

Of the two single-mode XM-Ls I have from Solarforce, one stopped working a month after arrival due to cracked soldering between the board and pill and the other one is hardly noticeably brighter than an UF R5 I happen to have.

It might be because of incorrect expectations on my part but the SST-50 I just received from them is so ho-hum that an UF XM-L can keep up with it on medium.

Love their hosts and really like their throwers.

They said to ship it back via non-registered airmail through the USPS and that it should only be 2 USD, but I am having a hell of a time finding that option on the USPS website. Maybe I need to ask someone at the Post Office.

Their explanation was that they needed to get the bulb back to repair it at their assembly operation.

They said that a premium lens, o-ring kit, and new bulb were already on their way.

I just hope I don't end up paying a bunch for shipping.
