Test/review of YZXStudio USB meter ZY1273

Got my YZ1271 and ZL1100 yesterday.

Haven't got a manual yet, so I need to figure out how they work.

But I've found something weird :

The current on the load does not match the current on the meter

Now that i have my zy1273 i can say i like yours much more.

Anyway, if you have a decent multimeter and a USB plugs with terminals you could measure current and say which one is off.

Otherwise you could roughly say it by attaching an Android phone (i don't know anything about ios) with an app called Ampere or another called Accubattery, which measures fairly well (considering that is just an approximation) how much current it is flowing through the phone. This at least, considering the big difference in numbers will tell you which one to trust and which one recalibrate (if possible)

I don't know if yours can recalibrate i'm pretty sure 1273 is not thatconfigurable (pretty disappointed by it)

Something’s definitely up. Mine is fine with the ZY1271.

I own multiple YZXStudio's meters, which were all calibrated when I got them, and they all show the same difference between load and meter. I believe they can be recalibrated. Good thing I bought mine at Franky's eBay store, he's usually really good about these kinds of things.

Thanks, now I know I'm not going nuts :)

I meant user recalibrated, let's say you have proper DMM (like a top of the line Brymen, Fluke, Agilent) or a bench type you could use as reference, also a bench type Electronic load, you could recalibrate your own like some other stuff allows you to.

So, must be the load?

The ZL1100 does allow for current calibration so you could try that to match you ZY meters if you have a stable 2.7 amp power supply.

Haven't got that kind of precision equipment, I'm sad to say.

We should make some kind of general chit-chat thread about these kind of things, so we don't litter this review's thread too much.

You don’t need a lab power supply for that. I bet one of your many usb chargers has enough juice to put out 2.7 amps. Just put the ZY1271 in between the charger and load like in your video to check the current. There’s a Curr ref menu option in which you enter the current you see on the 1271.

Thanks for the advice man, this solved the issue.
