The best cheap printer with cheap ink... Advice needed.

This might be helpful

I ordered some ink off of eBay.

The Brother ink costs about double that of the Canon ink for the old printer.

It's still reasonable, but I hope it lasts longer.

I can't believe this...

The Canon I was considering is now $32 on eBay.

That's a tremendous deal if you want that popular model.

EDIT: Nevermind.

It looks like a scam.

I hope you didnt order this last one as is 99,9% a scam. Only 6 feedbacks as a seller and the last one was more than a year ago…The price is simply to good to be true.

No, I didn't order it.

I'm going to stick with the Brother printer I bought.

Cheap “ink” printer is laser printer. End of story.

The inks for mine come in low and high capacity.Maybe you bought the high.

“Give away the razors, make money on the blades.”

That’s been around for centuries.

Yeh, “starter” cartridges.

Don’t even get me started on chipped carts.

Maybe it’s the p-p-p-printer that goes with the P-P-P-Powerbook.

I think you're right.

Sorry everyone!

I sometimes don't recognize scams very well.

What's really sad is that I use a Norelco electric razor.

Once the blades become dull, you'd think that buying Norelco brand replacement blades would be a good idea.

But I have read that even the real brand's replacement blades are greatly inferior to the blades that come with the electric razor.

So I am forced to buy an all new electric razor!

Luckily I am happy with an older model that is dirt cheap on eBay.

Now the Brother MFC-J480DW is $30 at Office Depot!

Ordered, thanks.

I forgot to mention...

If you intend to use third-party ink in a Brother printer, then do not update the firmware.

And if the printer asks to go online, tell it no.

Otherwise you may have to use only expensive Brother ink.

Raccoon, I was curious if you decided on refilling or buying 3rd party inks for your Brother?

I bought third-party ink.

Does that mean the new ones can only use Brother inks?

I would second this recommendation for an Epson EcoTank printer, I prefer to pay a bit more up front for the printer instead of getting gouged for ink. The newer models come with a full set of ink bottles that are good for like 7500 pages, and from there refill bottles only cost like $10 - $15.

As far as I can tell, the new Brother MFC-J480DW's are fine.

I did not research other models.
