It looks like this bag is not padded, itâs just thin material. What I like about Nealâs bag is that itâs fully padded all around. It gives very good protection for the light.
My mistake, I should read what I am writing! I meant "how the GT70 will be shipped". With the bag, I just couldn't get the add to cart button to work. Yeah, just want to know how the GT70 itself will be shipped to Canada?
IIRC with the last GT group buy Canada buyers didnât seem to report a lot of issues with customs? I remember a few but seems most made it without big charges.
Those from Canada would have to chime in on that though.
I'm not sure if it is padded or not, for I have not received it yet. However, I have Neal's bag and while yes it is padded, I know that the amount of padding offers minimal amount of protection, especially on both ends where Neal's bag doesn't have any padding at all which is where you would really need it. When you're walking you are bound to hit something and the ends of the bag is where you are going to get your impact.
Additionally, there has not been any word on how long it will take for Lumintop to resupply the bags and with that being said, some bag is better than no bag.
I personally wrap my GT35 in a high density foam padding that I had lying around here. These were to insulate hard drives from shock. My padding fits well into Neal's bag and the GT35 can now really take a good front, back and side jolt/impact, much more than what Neal's bag can offer, hence why it matters not to me if the above Amazon bag possibly doesn't have any padding.
Lastly, I'm just trying to help those who need a bag for the GT series light which is a beast to hold and carry. You really can't beat the price of these bags, $11.94 for the black, a small price to pay for some decent protection and a good way to carry the light. Oh, and you have plenty room to store your accessories i.e. extra battery, carriers etc.
Tried paying for my cap and strap on lumintopinline and get a 404 error when I click on proceed to checkout. Anyone else having this issue?
edit
Received message from Lumintop. I had used discount code with accessories which was a âno noâ. The code dropped off shipping fee. Lumintop graciously removed code and tacked on $12.00 shipping so I could continue processing to payment.
Thanks for the tip. I tried both before contacting Lumintop. Turns out the browser was fine, I put in the discount code when I was just ordering the accessories (since they were out when I ordered my light). According to Lumintop, this will block checkout. They manually removed the discount code from my cart and charged me $12.00 (egads!) to ship the items with my light. Maybe it goes towards additional packaging. Still less than full retail.
I'm not sure but it surely seems that there is someone at Lumintop that doesn't understand the agreed free shipping and other charges. Yes, it was nice of them to give us the steepest discount but it seems that they have made it up with other misc. charges. While it's not going to kill anyone it violates the spirit of the agreement. $12.00 that seems to be really high. I'm not sure what to suggest. Certainly share your thoughts with T/A. I"m not sure what he can do but he might have a better insight in getting things back to what you expected.
I am wondering, I received the email for the CW lights and a mention that says the NW will be ready in about 2-4 weeks and that email was sent on 8-13.
My question is, Should I keep checking that link in the email to see if they added the NWâs, OR are they going to send another email that the NWâs are available now âŚ?
The other thing I noticed was âPartsâ, did they change their minds? No parts?
Most likely all my questions have already been answered so Iâm sorry for asking again, I looked around but being such a long thread now itâs sort of hard to find specifics.
They will send everyone another round of emails when the conversion kits and NW lights are ready for sale.
TA has mentioned that Lumintop does not want to sell the reflectors and lenses seperately. Something about them being easily damaged in shipping. I have not heard anything about the carriers. Maybe TA knows more about the carriers.
Thank you JasonWW,
I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions, the thread was just to long to read every post.
As far as reflectors, besides having hundreds shipped to me and only one being damaged, and that was by customs, I donât think thatâs a great excuse.
But, for all the troubles they had early on they may be a bit spooked and surely wouldnât want to replace one due to shipping.
There packaging though is second to none, so a small box with a similar foam similar to the big light shipment and most likely no damage.
So Iâll wait for my NW email, Thanks Again JasonâŚ!!
