The sun rises in my livingroom.

Hopefully we wont read of a LiPo venting on Thomas while he powers that monstrosity. Those bulbs were probably designed for stationary mounts and might not take to kindly to the high impact environment of a bicycle. There is actually a point where there is far to much light and what is useful for an application. Ive equipped my bikes with 2 x KD C8's. I run with only one in operation 90% of the time. Carving trails and paths with two lights blazing creates some tunnel vision after about 30 min. It also completely destroys my night vision sensitivity to the spill beam. This is is not a good thing when traveling 15-18mph through sharp narrow turns, and seeing blue spots when looking off to the sides to judge a turning radius.

Thanks for the UV warnings. I never look into the lens while its powered up. I almost went with 6000K and am very glad that I didnt. The 4300K bulbs give a much warmer tint that is far more useful and easier on the eyes for the way this lamp will be used.

I might get another pair of these 100W's and put them in a set of offroad vehicle housings as WastedNihilist has done. Im just not sure which ones would give the best overall beam after the HID conversion. Id like to find something that offers tremendous flood with descent range. Maybe I'll go with an LED array as something like this.

If you dont have a good use for massive candlepower, you're not going to get to enjoy it the way that you had imagined. If you have a large amount of money burning a hole in your pocket, go take an introductory flying lesson and see how that hits you. Ask any pilot if there is anything on this earth that beats flying. Most of us have the same answer.

Flashpilot, can buy the LED bars from the same place where you ordered your HIDs.

Well, seriously i have no real use for 4x DRYs, HIDs....all are for hobby. My in-laws do. But luckily all my targets are really far as I live pretty high up, so not too bad. In Singapore we do not have any blackouts. (cables are underground too, so pretty immune to solar storms maybe not those which would knockout whole continents).

No use at all, but i still want those searchlights! This is called flashaholism, like alcoholism you don't need no reason. LOL!

(maybe when i really shift to Indonesia for retirement, i may have a true reason to use them after all)

PS. In SG it's really not easy to fly/own firearms. Though i managed to fire several rounds of 20mm in auto before on an APC and also 40mm grenades on a M203, Light Anti-tank Weapon/LAW. 3 years ago i fully fufilled my requirement of 2.5 years of Full-time National Service and 10 years/cycle of Reservist training, now on "Reserve" (hope no war here :D ).

Here is my HID conversion. Also I don't seem to have any spare HID bulbs or ballasts. Which seems odd since I should have used an odd number of them but received all of them in pairs. Oh well.

2100, Im familiar with the addiction. At least we arent collecting something as mundane as postage stamps or shoe laces. Once you get that 7kW searchlight, please do a full review - including 5 mile beam shots. Im amazed at how inexpensive it is. I can wait the years along with you till you acquire it. LOL!

Im jealous of your large caliber/explosive round destructive venture onto the firing range. HOW FUN! If you're ever in the states, please do look me up. Idaho is the best state in the 48 to fly in, and there's always something fun to do once you land.

WastedNihilist, thanks for the link. I must have missed your thread somehow. Keep digging for those missing parts. They must be somewhere! Do you get to use your searchlight often?

edit: your thread just popped up in my RSS feed... must be some lag.

Gladys, spam, spam, spam...

Yep, 1.5k shipped to SG. This is the effect on a building, on full power it is pretty intense. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wv4IWNMllHM

The light turned out to be much better than I had ever expected.
