Here in the UK, we have a £15 threshold for non-EU imports (about $18 - $20 at the moment) above which we pay an £8 handling charge and 20% Value Added Tax (VAT). Of course, after Brexit goes through, that’ll apply to any import.
Now you know why most of my overseas purchases are electronic parts for projects and light components for subsequent assembly. That way, I add the value, right here, in the UK, on my workbench.
