Wow, I’d hope so.

Way back, I got a pre-made XP-L drop-in that claimed 3V-18V. Lit up quite nicely on a single cell. Wasn’t sure if I could use multiple cells with it, was wary, so put in 2 18350s into the tube, and shorted (-) end of the cell to the case.

It lit up very dim, and very blue. The “driver” was probably just a cheap array of chip-resistors, zero regulation otherwise. No idea how much current went through it, but I can assure you the XP-L was not happy with it.

You know what 18V or even 12V would’ve done to it??

Back to 1 cell, it survived and I still have the drop-in in case I throw together a ’501 or such for someone who’s not too picky about current-regulation.

It’s NW and quite nice otherwise, but…
