What are you reading (Besides BLF LOL)?

I’ve read that trilogy. It’s very good IMHO.

It is well written and engaging . . subject - not so much. On the one hand it’s easy to dismiss . . and on the other, much less so. It was written quite a while back . . very wild to see how many elements seem to be coming to life.

Penthouse, I just buy it to read the articles

Jeeeze, Burro, I guess baking cookies doesn’t seem so demeaning anymore. HAHAHA! I’m just busting your chops.

And, GottaZoom, I can see where some people see that type of stuff as just fiction, but from my perspective, it seems more prophetic than anything else. Lets hope the keel is heavy enough to right the ship. If I may be so bold as to recommend another book that has many predictions that are coming to pass, Epicenter by Joel Rosenberg. I read it five or six years ago and much of what is in there has come to pass.

But but, I just read the articles H)

jacktheclipper you are in for a treat! Blueridge Mts. that is in my neck of the woods. Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, Bat Cave. I was born in Tryon, NC not far from where you are going. My dad lived in Old Fort (close to Black Mtn) I still have kin in Hendersonville etc. Man, you got me home sick. You will be roughly 20/25 mile from my dad”s place. Have fun!

Keith (who can”t wait to move back home to Old Fort N.C.)

Uncanny >) ! My favorite book is the Bible but I also enjoy reading many other offerings. I really do love history. I am enjoying hearing of the wide array of literature you folks are reading (very telling). Lotta good stuff of which I have read some & will put some of the other offerings on my list to read.

If your interested in historical fiction/fantasy, check out the Ring Of Fire series by Eric Flint. West Virginia mining town gets plunked down in the middle of Northern Germany during the Thirty Years War. Fun read and the first few books are free downloads from webscription.net. I’m on the umpteenth book, Kremlin Games, now. Anthologies with many excellent contributions. WS also has an extensive library of other free downloads including classic scifi.

I just finished re-reading Barker’s Sacrament. It was the first novel I ever read, that was many many years ago and now finally I was able to go back to childhood with enjoying this work.

I am currently plowing through the entire disc world series (again) by Terry Pratchett. Currently on “Carpe Jugulum”.

Fantastically hilarious fantasy series. A lot of fun to read.

1 Thank

I read Goodnight Moon to my lil 5 month old every night, I think it’s his favorite cause it’s the only one he held flip the pages with  other than that I don’t have the time to read that I used too. Totally worth it, I love being a dad

Reading the “Malazan book of the fallen” series. If you like fantasy war stories, you may love or hate the series. I love it.
Lots of cursing and gore, NOT for kids.

I’m reading Hawke

Not just a carpentry hero, a reading hero as well. Nice.

I’m on book 8. Talk about a cast of thousands! He really makes me stretch my little brain.

Currently, it is “No Comebacks” by Frederick Forsyth.

And after that, Wyndham’s “Trouble with Lichen” and McCarthy’s “The Road” are already waiting for me.

That is probably one of my all time favorite books.

Porn, lot’s of excellent reading material about baking and gardening and such…right?

Or, currently going through Stieg Larsson’s books. Reading the last one: Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest.
Looking forward to the next couple movie adaptations with Daniel Craig. The first one - Girl with the Dragon Tatoo was pretty good.

I’ve been on a bit of a Heinlein kick lately.

Currently reading Friday.

For the S/F crowd, I cannot recommend enough the Riverworld series by the great Philip Jose Farmer. The first novel is titled To Your Scattered Bodies Go.

Necro Bump…
Oldies but goodies.

Tears in Rain, by Rosa Montero .
Read it years ago.
Plot? It’s the book Blade Runner was based on.

Also the Hollows series by Kim Harrison.
Vamps, Witches, and other Sups.
The Hollows in Cincinnati - where the creatures of the night gather to - well - do what they do.
Strong female main characters.
#1 Dead Witch Walking
#2 The Good, the Bad, and the Undead
#3 Every Which Way But Dead
#4 A Fistful of Charms
#5 For a Few Demons More
Starts slow but picks up in the later books. With titles like these -How can you lose?
All the Best,
