Yes, there are B batteries! They are high voltage batteries (22V-500V) used in things like geiger counters, photoflash units, and old tube radios. They are almost always carbon-zinc cells.

There are two different B batteries. Ordinary low voltage and high voltage for tube aplications

The low voltage B battery is a round, 1.5 nominal voltage battery that’s a little shorter and fatter than an 18650. There’s also an A battery. Not sure what made some sizes (like AAA, AA, C, and D) succeed while others (like A and B) failed.
